The CSR Journal Magazine

An e-rickshaw driver was reportedly stabbed to death in northwest Delhi after stepping in to resolve a dispute that emerged from a collision between a motorcycle and a scooter. The incident unfolded in Rohini’s Sector 28 on the evening of September 12. According to police reports, five individuals, including two women, have been detained in connection with the crime.

The victim, identified as Abhishek, was allegedly attacked during a confrontation that escalated after he intervened in the heated dispute. His father, Shobharam Prajapati, claimed that no bystanders assisted his son while he lay injured on the road. Following the tragedy, Prajapati and family members blocked the road with Abhishek’s body, demanding accountability and asserting that timely intervention might have saved his life.

Abhishek, who was married and without children, was described by his father as the family’s sole provider. Shobharam noted that his son was rushed to a government hospital but succumbed due to excessive blood loss from the stab wound.

Details of the Altercation

A senior police officer provided insights into the events leading to the fatal stabbing, stating that the altercation began when the motorcycle collided with the scooter as the accused returned from Ayurved Hospital. Abhishek intervened during the ensuing argument, which allegedly resulted in a confrontation with a primary suspect, identified as Himanshu, aged 21.

Reports indicate that Abhishek slapped Himanshu and grabbed him by the neck during the dispute. Subsequently, another suspect named Anuj, aged 19, is said to have restrained Abhishek from behind. Following this, a third individual, Sachin alias Santosh, aged 22, allegedly took out a knife and inflicted a serious stab wound on Abhishek, leading to critical injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that Abhishek was transported to a nearby medical facility but unfortunately did not survive the attack. The police have located the knife used in the stabbing, which was recovered based on information provided by Himanshu. Additionally, Sachin’s scooter was also retrieved during the ongoing investigation.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement has identified the remaining two suspects involved in the case as Nandini Tiwari, aged 19, and Kunti alias Vanshika, aged 18. Both women were present at the scene during the incident and their participation has been substantiated through investigation efforts.

According to police, the three male suspects hail from the Shahbad area, while the two females are residents of Jahangirpuri. The authorities have formed specialised teams tasked with identifying all individuals associated with the incident and are proceeding with further inquiries to ensure a comprehensive investigation.

As the investigation unfolds, police have urged any witnesses to come forward with information that may aid in the proceedings. The tragic loss of Abhishek has sparked community outrage, with calls for stricter measures to curb such violence in public spaces.
