A 46-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was apprehended following an incident in which he allegedly discharged his weapon during a dispute concerning the division of a family property in Ahmedabad. The event transpired near the Takshila intersection in Vastral, where three brothers convened to discuss the matter of their old family home. During this gathering, an argument erupted, leading to the alleged discharge of a firearm.

Details of the Dispute

The Ramol police reported that brothers Pramod, Pawan, and Ashish had met with the intention of resolving the division of their ancestral house. Both Pramod and Pawan are serving personnel with the BSF. In addition to the brothers, several cousins and members of Ashish’s in-laws were present to assist in the peaceful resolution of the property dispute. However, the discussions escalated, resulting in a heated argument that eventually prompted Pramod to draw his licensed pistol.

Witness accounts suggest that the situation quickly deteriorated, leading to the discharge of the firearm. Pramod allegedly fired a shot that struck his cousin, Rajesh Prajapati, in the thigh. Following the incident, Rajesh was reportedly taken to a local hospital for medical care.

In the aftermath of the incident, the police were notified, and Rajesh’s injuries were assessed. Authorities emphasised that the situation required immediate attention to prevent further escalation among family members.

Upon arriving at the scene, the Ramol police detained Pramod Prajapati shortly after the shooting incident. They confiscated the pistol implicated in the event, which was confirmed to be legally owned by him. Medical personnel attended to Rajesh at the hospital, where he was treated for the bullet wound to his thigh. The police confirmed that no further injuries were reported among the individuals present during the altercation.
