Mixed Reaction from Passengers Arriving from Dubai at Delhi Airport

The CSR Journal Magazine

Passengers returning to India from Dubai on Thursday at Indira Gandhi International Airport reported mixed experiences concerning the situation in the UAE. While some expressed fear and urgency for evacuation, others maintained that everything was functioning normally, despite highlighting a significant rise in flight prices.

Passenger Accounts Reflect Uncertainty

Rahul Saxena, one of the passengers, voiced concerns regarding the environment in Dubai. He stated, “There is a situation of panic there. The sooner the government evacuates everyone, the better.” In contrast, passenger Gautam Gupta remarked that he did not encounter any issues during his stay in the UAE, stating, “Everything is normal in Dubai. We did not face any difficulties. The prices of the flights have increased.”

Rerouting of Flights Through Secondary Airports

Several passengers mentioned that they had to change their travel plans by rerouting through secondary airports such as Fujairah and Dammam to ensure their return to India. One passenger arriving from Fujairah shared, “I went to Dubai for work; the situation is a bit tense. Yesterday, there was an attack on the US Consulate… We were scared… We came from Fujairah because flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi were getting cancelled repeatedly. We are thankful to the airlines and the Indian government; they are helping us come back.”

Impact of Regional Crisis on Travel

The narratives from these passengers underscore the uncertainty and diverse experiences faced by Indian nationals in West Asia amid the ongoing regional crises. Coordination between airport authorities and airline representatives has been crucial in providing relief to passengers who experienced disruptions over the past few days as numerous flights were canceled or delayed.

Humanitarian Efforts for Stranded Travelers

In light of the travel disruptions caused by the conflict, actor Sonu Sood has expressed his support for those stranded in Dubai and announced humanitarian assistance for affected travelers. He communicated a message extending food and accommodation assistance, stating, “War has left many travelers stranded in Dubai. If you or someone you know has nowhere to stay, we are offering safe accommodation free of cost. No nationality. No conditions. Just humanity. DM us if you need help.”
