The Chief Minister’s agenda includes building partnerships across various sectors such as investment, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and emerging industries.

Upon his arrival, the Chief Minister was received by representatives from the UAE business community and members of the Odia diaspora residing in the country. His visit commenced in Abu Dhabi, with the main programme scheduled from September 9 to 11, before his return to India on September 12.

The high-level delegation accompanying Majhi includes Minister of Industries Sampad Chandra Swain and Chief Secretary Anu Garg, along with senior officials from the Industries Department and IPICOL. The group was also welcomed by Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Hemant Sharma, alongside officials and representatives from the UAE.

Preparations and Engagements

Following his arrival, Chief Minister Majhi reviewed preparations for the scheduled business and investor engagements in Abu Dhabi. He assessed arrangements for meetings with UAE-based investors and business leaders, focusing on ensuring that the interactions are productive and outcome-oriented.

During this period, the Chief Minister met with the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, where they discussed fostering deeper ties between India and the UAE. The conversation emphasised the growing economic opportunities and the importance of strengthening people-to-people connections between the two countries.

Majhi highlighted the significance of continued support for Odias living and working in the region, acknowledging their role as a key link between Odisha and the UAE. The programme planned for Abu Dhabi aims to establish direct connections between the Odisha delegation and prominent investors and institutional representatives from the UAE, thus advancing discussions on specific partnership opportunities.

Investment Opportunities Presented

On Wednesday, Odisha presented investment prospects associated with 14 projects, which have an estimated value of Rs 2.105 lakh crore. The Chief Minister also stressed the need for enhanced trade ties with the UAE, clearly outlining the state’s investment potential during a series of investor meetings in Abu Dhabi.

In a significant meeting with senior representatives from Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC), discussions centred on potential investments across various sectors, including metallurgy, critical minerals, coal-to-chemicals, port-based Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and industrial infrastructure. These discussions focused on creating long-term industrial participation and advancing technology collaboration in Odisha.

The Odisha government reported that both Adani Group and IHC expressed interest in exploring the proposed 14 projects, leading to the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). This will involve an estimated cumulative investment of Rs 2.105 lakh crore, which could generate approximately 8.7 lakh employment opportunities.

During a roundtable discussion with IHC representatives, Chief Minister Majhi invited the company and its affiliates to consider long-term investment ventures in Odisha, particularly in critical sectors such as minerals and metallurgy. He assured them of government support in facilitating strategic investments and partnerships in the state.
