A man intervened in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, after spotting an auto-rickshaw transporting 17 schoolchildren, a situation he believed posed serious safety risks. The footage depicted numerous children squeezed around the driver, with several more occupying the rear and cargo area of the vehicle.

The video, which has circulated widely, shows a serious overcrowding issue. It reveals that around six to seven children were seated in the back, while another two to three were positioned in the luggage compartment behind the rear seat. Given the confined space, the situation raised immediate concerns about the children’s ability to evacuate the vehicle quickly in case of an emergency.

Driver’s Explanation and Community Concerns

The man who recorded the video called for the auto-rickshaw driver to justify the excess number of passengers. After halting the vehicle, he insisted that the children step out and wait at a safe distance while he questioned the driver. In response, the driver pointed to a railing inside the vehicle as part of his explanation and assured the individual that he would not engage in this practice again in the future.

When pressed about the number of children typically transported, the driver stated that he usually carried 15 but had taken on extra passengers that day due to their unexpected presence.
