The CSR Journal Magazine

The West Bengal government is set to announce the datesheet for the WB Board Exam 2027 for Class 10 and 12 next week. This timetable will be made available on the official websites of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). The examinations for both classes are anticipated to be postponed and are likely to commence in March 2027.

According to reports from The Telegraph, the state’s education minister, Dipak Barman, indicated that the postponement is due to the ongoing population census. The board has submitted a revised examination schedule to the state education department, suggesting that the exams be conducted from March 2 to March 16, instead of the previously scheduled dates of February 15 to February 25.

The proposed examination timings are set from 10.45 am to 2 pm, with an additional 15 minutes allocated for students to read the question paper. The actual writing of answers will commence at 11 am, allowing students adequate preparation time before beginning their responses.

Details of Examination Papers

The initial examination was originally scheduled to start on February 15 with the first language paper and conclude on February 25 with optional elective subjects. The first language paper will include various languages such as Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Modern Tibetan, Nepali, Odia, Gurumukhi (Punjabi), Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, and Santali.

For the second language paper, students who select another language as their first language will take English, while those choosing English as their first language will appear for Bengali or Nepali. Additionally, the Sewing and Needlecraft examination is planned from 10.45 am to 3 pm, while the Music, Vocal, and Instrumental examination will take place from 10.45 am to 1 pm.

The Computer Application examination is scheduled from 10.45 am to 1.30 pm, and all vocational subject examinations will occur from 10.45 am to 12.30 pm. These timings are designed to accommodate the diverse range of subjects offered to students across different streams.

Impact of Population Census on Exam Schedule

The ongoing population census is being conducted in two phases, with the second phase in West Bengal and other regions of the country set to begin on January 25 and continue until February 28, 2027. This significant national activity has necessitated the adjustment of the examination schedule to ensure that students can participate without conflicts.

The forthcoming timetable for the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations will include essential details such as exam dates, timings, practical examination guidelines, and other relevant instructions for students. This comprehensive information is expected to assist students in their preparations and ensure a smooth examination process.

As the release date for the datesheet approaches, students and educational institutions are advised to stay updated through the official websites of WBBSE and WBCHSE. This will ensure that they receive timely information regarding any further changes or announcements related to the examinations.
