Man Kills Wife in Front of Children, Calls Police to Confess

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 36-year-old man allegedly killed his wife in a brutal attack in front of their two young children early on Sunday morning in Dadri. Kishan Sharma, a daily wage worker from Bulandshahr, reportedly slit his wife Chanchal’s throat after another heated argument, then calmly called the police to admit the crime.

Kishan and Chanchal had been living in a rented single-room house with their six- and seven-year-old children since their marriage in 2016. Police said Kishan had been suspicious of his wife’s alleged relationship with another man, causing frequent quarrels at home. The atmosphere of mistrust and tension escalated sharply on Sunday at around 5am when the couple once again got into an intense fight.

The Crime and Immediate Confession

In a fit of rage, Kishan attacked Chanchal with a kitchen knife, slitting her throat and causing multiple injuries on her shoulder. The horrifying incident occurred in front of the couple’s children, who were traumatised by what they witnessed. Immediately after, Kishan called the police emergency number 112 and reported the murder himself, saying, “I have killed my wife and am sitting with her body and my children.” When the police arrived, they found Kishan sitting beside the body while the children stood apart, visibly disturbed.

Police Action and Investigation

The Dadri police promptly registered a murder case against Kishan under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Station House Officer, Arvind Kumar, confirmed Kishan’s confession upon their arrival. The children told the police that their father had beaten their mother during the fight. Investigations are ongoing, but police verified that Kishan had confronted Chanchal multiple times over suspicions of her involvement with another man, adding strain to their marital relationship.

The shocking incident has left the local community reeling, emphasising the urgent need for effective intervention in domestic disputes before they spiral into violence. The case also raises concerns about the psychological and emotional welfare of children exposed to such traumatic events.

Further updates will follow as investigations progress.
