A man allegedly broke into the office of the Kuzhuvalvattam Sree Bhagathy temple, located in Kudappanamoodu, on the night of April 10, 2026. Following the break-in, he reportedly stole cash amounting to Rs 8,500. In a twist of events, the accused, now identified as 40-year-old Senthil from Tamil Nadu, fell asleep inside the office after committing the theft.

The incident came to light when temple committee members arrived for their regular duties at approximately 5.30 am on April 11. Upon arrival, they were met with scenes of chaos, including a broken office door and the sight of the man sleeping inside. This unexpected discovery led to a sense of shock among the committee members, who were soon forced to take action.

Realising that a theft had occurred, the temple staff quickly contacted law enforcement personnel, who arrived shortly thereafter. The police were able to take Senthil into custody without resistance, as he reportedly remained unaware of his surroundings.

Police Action and Arrest

Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the Vellarada police station registered a case and proceeded with the arrest of Senthil. Initial investigations revealed that he had allegedly broken open the doors of the temple office to gain entry. It was indicated that fatigue from the theft had prompted him to fall asleep on the premises.

Reports suggest that the accused has been linked to multiple theft cases in the past. However, police have not disclosed specific details regarding these previous incidents. The authorities are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the full extent of his alleged criminal activities.

After his arrest, Senthil was formally presented before a local court where he was remanded into judicial custody. The court proceedings were described as standard, and the case will continue to be looked into by the investigating officers. The temple committee has expressed relief that the situation was resolved quickly and that no further loss occurred.
