In light of recent leadership changes, with Pieter Elbers resigning as CEO, Rahul Bhatia has assumed the position of interim head of IndiGo. In a recent message to employees, Bhatia reflected on the operational disruptions experienced by the airline in December.

He stated, “What happened last December should never have taken place. Our customers didn’t deserve it, nor did all of you, especially the frontline employees who bore the brunt for no fault of theirs.” He expressed his appreciation for the employees who worked diligently to restore operations during a particularly difficult period, commending their resilience and commitment.

Stepping into his interim role, Bhatia highlighted the importance of responsibility to not only customers and shareholders but also every individual within the company. He reiterated his dedication to enhancing the company culture, promoting operational excellence, and delivering high-standard service to passengers.

Bhatia reminded employees of IndiGo’s foundational goal, which is to make air travel both affordable and accessible for all Indians. He encouraged the workforce to maintain focus, unity, and personal accountability while ensuring a pleasant and seamless travel experience for customers.

“Let us stay focused and accountable, remain fiercely united and committed to the cause, and continue to do what we do best – offer affordable fares and a courteous and hassle-free travel experience to our customers,” he stated. He also expressed eagerness to work collaboratively with the entire team and extended his best wishes to both employees and their families.

Bhatia closed his message with an informal sign-off, identifying himself as “Rahul (alias ‘Main Hoon Naa’),” which translates to “I’m here.” This gesture was crafted to reassure the staff during this transitional period, aiming to foster a sense of stability and support amongst the workforce.
