Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj recently met with newly elected Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, sharing photographs from the encounter on social media. This meeting took place on Tuesday, following Vijay’s significant victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, where his political party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), secured a decisive mandate. Kanagaraj expressed his well-wishes for Vijay’s tenure as Chief Minister in his post, addressing him with warmth as “Anna.” The images have since gained considerable attention online.

Composer Thaman Also Meets The Chief Minister

On the preceding Monday, composer Thaman, known for his collaboration with Vijay on the film Varisu, also had the opportunity to meet with the Chief Minister. The composer took to social media platform X to share moments from their meeting, emphasising the joy and musical connection he shares with Vijay. He referred to the Chief Minister as “shining bright” and remarked on their shared happiness, further notating their ongoing artistic partnership.

This encounter is part of a series of visits from notable figures in the film industry since Vijay’s ascension to the role of Chief Minister. Influential personalities in Tamil cinema have been keen to convey their congratulations and support for Vijay during this pivotal time in his political career.

Prominent filmmakers AR Murugadoss and Venkat Prabhu, among others, have previously visited Vijay to extend their greetings. Venkat Prabhu, in a symbolic gesture, presented Vijay with a decorative number plate featuring “TN-07-CM-2026,” referencing the Chief Minister’s political ambitions.

Other Film Personalities Convey Their Congratulations

In addition to Kanagaraj and Thaman, numerous representatives from various film organisations, including the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association, have met with Vijay. Last week, actors Arjun and Shanthnu also visited the Chief Minister to express their best wishes and support as he begins his new role.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry, known for directing the commercially successful film Leo, released in 2023. The movie starred Vijay in the lead role and included a talented ensemble cast featuring Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, among others. The success of Leo has contributed significantly to Kanagaraj’s reputation in the industry.

Previously, Kanagaraj directed Coolie, featuring iconic actor Rajinikanth in the lead role. This film also featured Nagarjuna as the antagonist, alongside a robust cast that included Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. Kanagaraj’s recent and upcoming projects continue to generate interest among audiences, including a collaboration with Allu Arjun on an untitled film, referred to as AA23.
