Chief Minister Hemant Soren Announces Examination Cancellations

On August 14, 2023, Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared that all activities linked to TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), including exams and results, would be cancelled. This decision includes the annulment of the JSSC-CGL examinations. CM Soren conveyed that the Cabinet convened to review the situation and decided that a comprehensive inquiry would be initiated into any irregularities related to examinations conducted since 2014.

During a press conference held at Jaipal Singh Stadium, CM Soren expressed that the government’s decision was the culmination of extensive discussions aimed at finding effective resolutions to issues raised by the student community. He stated, “We have decided to cancel all examinations conducted by TDPL, the results published, and the selection or participation of any candidates through TDPL.” The announcement drew emotional reactions from many aspirants who celebrated the government’s response to their demands.

Moreover, the Chief Minister confirmed that an inquiry would not only address the recent allegations concerning TDPL but also encompass the JPSC Civil Services examinations. This investigation will be overseen by a retired judge, ensuring an unbiased examination of the circumstances surrounding the allegations, which has raised concerns among the youth.

Investigation Into Examination Irregularities Underway

Following the concerns voiced by students regarding anomalies in examinations, CM Soren mentioned that both the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Crime Investigation Department (CID) are already probing the allegations. He noted that some persons appointed through the JPSC have been arrested as part of this investigation, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the complexity of discerning the validity of claims made by both the government and students, stating that the truth sometimes appears to align with different perspectives. As he committed to reforms within the examination process, Soren highlighted a focus on transparency and the reinforcement of standard operating procedures to mitigate future irregularities.

Protests by students in Ranchi over these alleged irregularities prompted the government’s decisive action. CM Soren reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring fairness in examinations and safeguarding the integrity of educational assessments.
