Indian Railways Unveils Shri Ramayana Yatra: A 16-Night Spiritual Train Journey

In a notable initiative aimed at fostering pilgrimage tourism, Indian Railways, alongside the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has announced the launch of the Shri Ramayana Yatra. This exclusive 16-night, 17-day tour is set to commence from the Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on March 30, 2026. The journey encompasses around 7,560 kilometers, mirroring the life and adventures of Lord Rama as narrated in the revered epic, the Ramayana.

Sacred Stops in Ayodhya, Bihar, and Nepal

The itinerary features several significant religious destinations, beginning in Ayodhya and Nandigram, where participants can visit the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Hanuman Garhi, Ram Ki Paidi (Saryu Ghat), and Bharat Mandir. The journey will also include stops in Bihar and Nepal, particularly Sitamarhi, recognized as the birthplace of Maa Sita, and Janakpur in Nepal, which is reachable via road transport.

From Kashi to Rameshwaram: Exploring Key Pilgrimage Sites

Further along the route, the tour will encompass key locations such as Varanasi and Prayagraj, showcasing the Kashi Vishwanath temple and corridor, Tulsi Mandir, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir, and the evening Ganga Aarti. The journey continues southward, visiting Nashik (home to the Trimbakeshwar temple and Panchvati), Hampi (identified with the ancient city of Kishkindha), and Rameshwaram, where the Ramanathaswamy temple and Dhanushkodi await pilgrims.

Travel in Luxury Aboard the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe Train

The Shri Ramayana Yatra will be conducted using the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train, designed to accommodate up to 150 travelers and ensure a luxurious experience. The train features fully air-conditioned coaches across AC I, AC II, and AC III classes, promising comfortable travel throughout the journey.

Modern Amenities and Enhanced Safety Onboard

On-board amenities include two fine-dining restaurants, a modern kitchen, shower cubicles, sensor-operated washrooms, and foot massagers, thereby enhancing passenger comfort. Additionally, robust safety measures are in place, including CCTV surveillance and dedicated security personnel for each coach, ensuring a secure environment for travelers.

Passengers can board the train from multiple stations, including Delhi, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur, and Lucknow railway stations. Excursion logistics are well planned, with all sightseeing and transfers arranged via comfortable air-conditioned vehicles. Accommodation during the tour will be provided in three-star hotels, and all meals served will be vegetarian, including those provided during excursions.
