Amidst the escalating tension, India has further evacuated 292 Indian citizens from Iran and 366 people from Israel. India has till date safely brought back 2,295 Indian citizens stuck in the Persian Gulf nation.
161 nationals were evacuated safely from Amman this morning, they were first moved from Israel to Jordan and then brought back. Another 165 nationals flew back to New Delhi in Indian military aircraft. Union Minister L Murugan received them at the airport.
From Mashhad, another batch of 292 Indian nationals were evacuated from Iran, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed.
Jaiswal shared the details of the ongoing evacuation, “2,295 Indian nationals have now been brought home from Iran.” Operation Sindhu was launched last week to get back Indian students and nationals from Iran and Israel. Over hundreds of missiles crossfired by the two countries Israel and Iran.
India has successfully evacuated hundreds of its nationals through chartered flights from Mashhad in Iran, Yerevan in Armenia, and Ashgabat in Turkmenistan since Wednesday.
To facilitate the evacuation, Iran lifted airspace restrictions on Friday, allowing three chartered flights to depart from Mashhad.
The first flight from Mashhad landed in New Delhi late Friday night carrying 290 Indian citizens. A second flight from the same city arrived in the national capital on Saturday afternoon with 310 more evacuees.
Meanwhile, a flight from Yerevan reached India on Thursday, and another special evacuation flight from Ashgabat landed in New Delhi on Saturday morning.
