On 8 May, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat officially laid the foundation stone for a new educational campus of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir. The ceremony took place in Godhavi, Ahmedabad, and included traditional rituals indicative of cultural significance associated with the occasion. This campus will be developed by the Art of Living organisation, an initiative aimed at enhancing educational opportunities in the region.

During the ceremony, CM Patel highlighted the pivotal role of education in nation-building, attributing its advancement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed that responsible citizenship is cultivated when education combines values, spirituality, and modern perspectives, reflecting a holistic approach to learning.

The Chief Minister stated his belief that the Sanand region is poised to become a global semiconductor hub. He noted that institutions like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir will prepare the youth for burgeoning opportunities in technology by fostering innovative skills alongside value-based education.

Investment in Education Sector

CM Patel elaborated on the government’s commitment to education by mentioning a substantial budget of Rs 63,000 crore allocated to the sector. He referred to various initiatives, including ‘Namo Lakshmi’ and ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana’, which focus on promoting girls’ education. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the new campus will significantly contribute to the state’s educational vision.

He commended a demonstration by the children of the institution, showcasing the ‘Intuition Process’. CM Patel remarked on the importance of raising consciousness among students through yoga and knowledge, especially in the age of social media. He believes that this new educational facility will play a crucial role in shaping future generations and aligning with the aspiration of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

In acknowledgment of the project, Sanand MLA Kanubhai Patel congratulated the institution. He emphasised that the educational campus represents a beacon of hope for the children in the area, merging academic learning with spiritual training. This dual focus, he stated, enhances children’s concentration and reinforces strong values, ultimately guiding them towards holistic development.

Campus Features and Facilities

The upcoming educational campus is designed to facilitate various aspects of student development, incorporating dedicated facilities. These include a Sports Academy, a Performing and Creative Arts Academy that focuses on music, dance, and theatre, and a Technology and Innovation Academy aimed at cultivating a scientific mindset among students. Additionally, there will be a Business Academy to foster essential leadership qualities.

The institution aims to construct a progressive educational environment that intertwines traditional values with modern educational practices. This blend is intended to help students excel in their studies, develop life skills, and instil strong moral principles.

The foundation-laying event attracted notable figures from the community, including trustees and teachers from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort behind this initiative, which is envisioned to create a nurturing platform for students to thrive both academically and personally.
