“Goli Maaroge Mujhe?”: Delhi Uber Driver Faces Passenger with Gun in Dispute

The CSR Journal Magazine

A frightening encounter occurred in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar when an Uber passenger allegedly pulled out a gun during a disagreement over a ride booking. The episode, recorded by the driver, has gone viral online, raising serious safety concerns for commuters and cab operators.

Passenger Allegedly Shows Gun

The confrontation reportedly began when the passenger booked two rides simultaneously, causing both drivers to arrive at the location. When one driver questioned him about the double booking, the argument escalated, and the passenger allegedly brandished a firearm.

The driver, keeping his composure while recording, asked, “Yeh kya pistol dikhaa rahe ho tum mujhe? Goli maaroge mujhe?” (Why are you showing me a pistol? Will you shoot me?). Startled by the questioning, the passenger replied, “Main jaa rahaa hoon yahaan se” (I’m leaving from here) and attempted to conceal the gun behind his back. Despite repeated efforts to capture the weapon on camera, bystanders intervened, urging the driver to step back.

Viral Video Sparks Backlash

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many blaming the passenger for creating a dangerous situation in a crowded area. Some users also cautioned that the driver’s close approach to the gun could have worsened the situation, potentially giving the passenger a claim of self-defense.

People have tagged Delhi Police and Uber India, demanding the passenger be identified and punished. While some highlighted the risks drivers face, others pointed out that frequent ride cancellations sometimes force passengers to book multiple cabs. Authorities have yet to confirm whether an FIR has been filed, but the incident has intensified calls for stronger safety measures for ride-sharing services in the city.
