The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar police announced the interception of a significant amount of counterfeit NCERT books, estimated at a value of approximately ₹10 crore. This operation is part of a larger initiative aimed at tackling the circulation of fraudulent educational materials across the state. Authorities revealed this information in an official communication on Tuesday.

Reward for Police Team’s Efforts

The operation was deemed a notable success as substantial quantities of counterfeit materials were confiscated in the Udham Singh Nagar district. In recognition of the efforts made by the police team involved in this operation, Director General of Police Deepam Seth has declared a monetary reward of ₹20,000. This step emphasizes the seriousness with which the police are addressing the issue of counterfeit educational resources.

Uttarakhand’s Achievement in Judi:cial System Modernization

In a related development, Uttarakhand has achieved first place in the national implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) 2.0. According to data available until January 2026, this recognition underscores the effective implementation of a technology-driven justice framework under the direction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Impressive National Ranking

The National Crime Records Bureau’s latest progress dashboard for the Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and Systems (CCTNS) and ICJS reflects Uttarakhand’s leading position, with a score of 93.46.

Following Uttarakhand are Haryana at 93.41, Assam at 93.16, Sikkim at 91.82, and Madhya Pradesh at 90.55. This ranking illustrates the commendable performance displayed by the top states in the ongoing implementation of criminal justice improvements.

Leadership and Monitoring by Chief Minister

The success in this area can be largely attributed to the diligent efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He has taken an active role in ensuring the practical adoption of new legal frameworks, such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). The Chief Minister conducted regular review meetings with both senior government officials and field officers at district levels to address any challenges encountered during implementation.

Technological Advancements Under ICJS 2.0

The foundation of Uttarakhand’s achievement in modernizing the criminal justice system lies in the “One Data, One Entry” strategy introduced in ICJS 2.0. This approach facilitates a seamless flow of data among various entities, including the police, e-Courts, e-Prisons, e-Prosecution, and e-Forensics. By ensuring that data input is made available instantaneously to all relevant departments, the system reduces paperwork and significantly expedites case resolution.
