An Emirates flight headed for Dubai from Chennai had to reverse its course early on Monday morning due to a safety alert. The aircraft, identified as EK543, took off with 206 passengers onboard at 4 am but was instructed to return while cruising at 34,000 feet over the Arabian Sea.

The decision to turn back was made after the pilot received notifications regarding a fire incident at Dubai airport, believed to have been caused by drone strikes near a fuel tank facility. The flight safely landed back in Chennai at 6:45 am, where it was subsequently canceled.

Passengers Affected by Cancellation

Following the flight’s return, passengers were disembarked and advised to reschedule their travel plans. Among those impacted was Harini, a traveler aiming to reach London via Dubai, who expressed her disappointment about being unable to report to work in London due to the disruption. Another passenger, Syed Hasan, shared his frustration about missing a visit to his wife in Dubai, noting that this was the third consecutive cancellation he had experienced within a week. Usha, a senior citizen on the flight, mentioned that the crew did not provide detailed information regarding the reason for the flight’s return.

Additional Flights Experience Disruptions

In a related incident, an Emirates flight (EK539) from Ahmedabad to Dubai also had to turn back shortly after its departure on the same morning. This aircraft was carrying over 250 passengers and faced operational disruptions at Dubai airport due to the ongoing situation.

Moreover, another Emirates flight (EK649) traveling from Colombo to Dubai was diverted to Ahmedabad, landing there at 11:36 am with nearly 300 passengers onboard as a precautionary measure.
