The CSR Journal Magazine

Tarun Chugh, the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, highlighted the significant potential of drone technology in transforming the agricultural landscape of rural India. Speaking at the National Drone Summit 2026, he underscored how drones can enhance the efficiency and productivity of farming practices.

Chugh pointed out that the agricultural sector can greatly benefit from drone capabilities such as crop monitoring, precision spraying of fertilizers and pesticides, and overall reduction in operational costs. These improvements, he stated, are vital for making agriculture more profitable and sustainable.

He remarked that the anticipated advancements in drone application will allow farmers to better utilize resources and modernize their approaches to farming, thereby providing a substantial boost to the agricultural economy.

Youth Empowerment through Technology

Chugh also focused on the role of the youth in India’s development journey, describing them as the country’s primary asset. He indicated that specialised training in drone technology could lead to new avenues for employment and self-employment for millions of young individuals.

According to Chugh, empowering the youth with skills in cutting-edge technologies is essential for fostering self-reliance and promoting positive social change. This investment in skill development is expected to yield significant dividends both for individuals and the broader economy.

In his address, Chugh asserted that technology should serve as an instrument of empowerment for the youth, helping them overcome challenges and seize emerging opportunities. He emphasised that collaboration is crucial for integrating advanced technology into rural settings effectively.

Broader Impact of Drone Technology

Beyond agriculture, Chugh elaborated on the diverse applications of drone technology, touching upon its critical role in various sectors such as disaster management, healthcare, infrastructure, and public services. He expressed the need for India to enhance its global stature by fostering innovation and skill development across these domains.

He contended that a well-rounded approach to incorporating drone technology can benefit multiple sectors, thus contributing to a resilient and responsive governance structure. Chugh cited the potential for drones to significantly improve logistics and security measures, making them invaluable assets for modern infrastructure.

As the summit concluded, Chugh reiterated the importance of aligning technology with cooperative efforts to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He stressed that the primary aim should be to ensure that the advantages of technological advancements reach every corner of society.

Initiatives Launched at the Summit

The National Drone Summit 2026 served as a platform for launching three key initiatives designed to bolster India’s cooperative drone ecosystem. The Drone Tech Multi-State Cooperative Society Limited was introduced as the first sector-focused cooperative to promote the drone industry in the country.

Another significant initiative, the National Mission 1 Panchayat 1 Drone Udyami, seeks to cultivate drone entrepreneurs across two lakh agriculture-based Panchayats over the next five years. This initiative aims to stimulate local economies by fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

In addition, 75 Advanced Skill Centres were announced to equip youth with industry-ready skills in drone technology and other emerging fields. This initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in preparing the workforce for a technology-driven future.
