Delhi Sleeper Cell Linked to Khalistani Threat Nabbed

The CSR Journal Magazine

Delhi Police have arrested two individuals suspected of being associated with the banned pro-Khalistan organisation, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), led by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The arrests mark a significant development in ongoing efforts to counter activities linked to separatist elements operating from abroad.

Accused Identified as Residents of Delhi

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Baljinder, an ambulance driver, and his associate Rohit, also known as Keerth. Both are residents of Delhi and are alleged to have been operating as sleeper cell members with connections to the overseas-based Khalistani leader Pannun.

Authorities have stated that the individuals were apprehended following an investigation that uncovered their suspicious activities and network affiliations. They are believed to have been working under instructions from handlers aligned to SFJ, which is officially designated as an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

SFJ and Gurpatwant Singh Pannun

Sikhs for Justice, a separatist organisation advocating for the creation of Khalistan, has been at the centre of several investigations by Indian law enforcement agencies. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a US and Canada-based legal activist, serves as the chief of the group. He is wanted in multiple cases related to inciting violence and promoting separatist agendas in India.

Pannun has been previously accused of orchestrating various propaganda campaigns and supporting radical elements within the country. Indian security agencies have also alleged that SFJ is attempting to revive extremist forces in Punjab and other parts of northern India through digital outreach, funding, and recruitment.

Legal Proceedings and Investigations Underway

Following their arrest, the two suspects are undergoing questioning as part of a wider investigation. Delhi Police are examining their links, funding sources, and communication with foreign-based operatives. Officials are also probing the possible roles the accused may have played in recent incidents or planned activities that could pose a threat to public safety.

The arrests are part of increased vigilance and coordinated operations aimed at monitoring individuals suspected of involvement with banned outfits. Law enforcement agencies across several states have been conducting regular crackdowns to disrupt sleeper cells and dismantle any organised networks operating within the country.

The individuals will be presented before a competent court, and further actions will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.

Police have reiterated that they are committed to ensuring the security and integrity of the nation and will continue to take firm action against any groups or individuals involved in anti-national activities.
