Bengaluru FC have strengthened their defence ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season with the signing of Dutch centre-back Menno Koch. The 32-year-old arrives with extensive experience across European leagues and is expected to add strength and composure to the Blues’ backline.

Koch Brings European Experience

A graduate of the PSV Eindhoven academy, Koch began his professional career with the Dutch club in 2012. He later represented several clubs across Europe, including NAC Breda and FC Utrecht in the Netherlands, KAS Eupen in Belgium, CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and Sarpsborg 08 FF in Norway.

During his career, Koch has shared the pitch with several prominent Dutch players, including Robin van Persie, Cody Gakpo and Steven Bergwijn.

His experience across different European competitions is expected to provide Bengaluru FC with greater defensive depth and leadership.

Coach Pep Munoz Welcomes New Signing

Bengaluru FC head coach Pep Munoz praised Koch’s experience and physical qualities. He described the defender as a strong player with a good passing range who fits the style and identity the club wants to develop.

Munoz also expressed his excitement about having Koch join the squad in Bengaluru ahead of the new campaign.

Koch Eager for New Challenge

Koch said his decision to join Bengaluru FC followed discussions with the club’s coaching and management teams. He said the club’s long-term vision convinced him that the move was the right step for his career.

The defender added that he wants to contribute to the team’s development and give his best while representing the Bengaluru FC jersey.

Fifth New Addition

Koch becomes Bengaluru FC’s fifth signing ahead of the 2026-27 ISL season. He joins Spanish midfielder Borja Martinez, Portuguese centre-back Sandro Embalo, Argentine midfielder Manuel de Iriondo and Montenegrin striker Mihailo Perovic.

With the addition of an experienced European defender, Bengaluru FC will hope to build a stronger squad and mount a competitive challenge in the upcoming ISL campaign.
