The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director, Shyam Sunder, expressed his satisfaction with the recent hosting of the India-Afghanistan T20I series, which India won 3-0. He remarked that holding the matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi was a profoundly positive experience. Sunder highlighted that both the Afghanistan Cricket Board and team members commended the stadium’s facilities and the quality of the pitch.

According to Sunder, the enthusiasm of the Delhi crowd was palpable, as they enthusiastically praised exemplary performances from players on both teams. He emphasised that there was a welcoming atmosphere, free of bias towards the visiting team, which was appreciated by all. This level of engagement signifies a growing appreciation for cricket in the country.

Furthermore, Sunder credited the vision of ICC chairman Jay Shah for advancing cricket in Afghanistan and other associate nations, indicating that these efforts are beginning to yield positive outcomes. He expressed gratitude for the support provided, which allowed for a seamless hosting of the matches.

DDCA Secretary Commends Series Victory

DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma also shared his enthusiasm regarding India’s series victory, accentuating that it has brought joy to the nation, particularly after two previous defeats in international series. Sharma conveyed that being the host for this series was a triumph for the DDCA and reflected India’s cricketing spirit.

He noted that the experience would not only be memorable for the Afghan team but also serve as a testament to India’s commitment to hospitality, often summarised in the phrase “Atithi Devo Bhava,” or “the guest is God.” Sharma reassured that the DDCA, in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting Afghan cricket within India.

Sharma’s expression of solidarity highlighted the mutual respect and camaraderie developed during the series. His confidence in fostering ties through cricket continues to remain a priority, particularly for nations at various stages of development in the sport.

India Concludes Series with Convincing Performance

India’s cricket team concluded the T20I series with a commanding victory of 127 runs in the final match against Afghanistan, further solidifying their dominant position in the series. Batting first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, India’s score of 221 runs for the loss of seven wickets was largely attributed to an outstanding performance from Abhishek Sharma, who achieved a record-breaking 108 runs off 34 balls.

The Indian squad demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the series, ensuring a clean sweep against Afghanistan. Their performances not only showcased individual talents but also highlighted the strategic planning and execution that went into the series.

As cricket fans celebrated the victory, it was a moment of pride that resonated beyond borders, particularly for the Afghan team. The successful hosting of the series is expected to strengthen relationships between the two nations, both on and off the pitch, fostering a spirit of unity in sportsmanship.
