CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India kickstarts ‘Art for Hope’ fest in support of traditional artisans and small art businesses

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the philanthropic and CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India, today inaugurated the much-awaitedArtisan Fest to encourage traditional artisans and small art businesses to capitalise their art works during this festive season.

HMIF is organising a four-day trade exhibition cum sale market at ‘Museo Camera Centre of Photographic Arts’, Shri Ganesh Mandir Marg, DLF Phase IV, Sector 28, Gurugram, Haryana every day till October 31 from 11 am to 7 pm

The exhibition will display distinct artefacts from small artisans and young design collectives. ‘Art for Hope’, the Artisan Fest will support over 1000 artisans and performers through these 7 small businesses and 4 performing groups.The initiative has been curated to empower small businesses and to encourage the community to buy from small artisans.
HMIF and Museo camera will also conduct simple workshops to teach these craftsperson and artisans simple photography using mobile phones so that the artisans can upload their products and services on the social media. Employees of HMI will update craftsperson on how to use different social media platforms to promote themselves. They will also provide them with tips and suggestions on promoting their art in the offline space.
Puneet Anand, AVP & Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said, “Realising our global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ through our CSR initiatives, we focus our efforts on programmes that change lives through improved livelihoods. The pandemic has affected many aspects in society. Loss of livelihood is one of the biggest fall out. Many organisations are focussing on skilling and re skilling of those who have lost jobs, but artists and artisans have been neglected. Art for hope the Artisan Fest,is a unique effort of extending support to pandemic hit traditional artisans and small art businesses to help them capitalise on their craft and create unique products for young, millennial audiences during this festive season”.

‘Art for Hope’ will include a display of work from:

1) VORG, a woman led aggregator of organic food supplies across India, promotes 350+ organic brands, NGOs and SHG engaging over 2000+ farmers
2) Paperwings, manufacturer of eco-friendly diyas, notebooks & décor using recycled paper, employs 500+ rural women from Haryana
3) Vernssage, Delhi based woman owned art gallery supporting young and upcoming artists
4) Woodland Nursery, a woman led business promotes usage of oxygen enhancing plants in urban households (significant in Covid times), employs 20 gardeners and raises awareness on chemical free plantation techniques among them
5) Khawab, makers of ethical, ethnic, & exclusive lifestyle products through women of Mandawali, Delhi, support 50 families
6) Gulmeher, a collective supporting 350 waste pickers turned artisans, handcrafting eco-friendly products using recycled materials and discarded flowers from Gazipur flower mandi area
7) Refresh, an initiative of Clothes BoxFoundation employs women from underprivileged background to upcycle waste fabric
