The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) spokesperson, Ravula Sridhar Reddy, has accused the ruling Congress party in Telangana of generating political diversions to obscure its governance shortcomings. This statement comes in response to allegations made by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud regarding black magic practices involving former minister T Harish Rao. Reddy characterised the claims as unfounded and a tactic to sidestep the Congress party’s failures in fulfilling campaign promises.

Reddy further challenged the Congress leadership to provide legal proof of their accusations instead of resorting to personal attacks aimed at senior opposition leaders. He asserted that such distractions arise from a lack of accountability and answers to pressing public issues. He emphasised that the BRS believes the Congress’s assertions are an effort to draw attention away from their governance failures.

While addressing the media, Reddy insisted that the Congress party should present any legitimate evidence related to the allegations of black magic attributed to Harish Rao. He stated that such baseless claims tarnish the reputation of a seasoned minister who has dedicated over a decade to public service in Telangana.

BRS Urges Congress to Focus on Internal Issues

Reddy also urged the newly appointed TPCC chief to concentrate on resolving internal issues within the Congress party, particularly the reported infighting among its members. He noted that the current focus on personal attacks detracts from addressing the real challenges faced by the people of Telangana. Reddy pointed out that such political disputes do not serve the electorate who are aware of the underlying motives behind these distractions.

According to Reddy, political skirmishes within Congress should be prioritised over attempts to undermine the BRS or its leaders. He expressed concern that continued infighting may ultimately hinder the party’s effectiveness in governance and public service, advocating instead for a more constructive political discourse that would benefit the state as a whole.

Reddy’s remarks come amid increasing scrutiny of the effectiveness of the Congress government in addressing electoral commitments and overall state administration. The BRS spokesperson’s comments suggest that the party is keen to maintain focus on governance and public accountability rather than engaging in divisive politics.

TPCC President Denounces Negative Practices

In a related development, TPCC President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud had earlier condemned Harish Rao’s alleged involvement in “negative poojas,” distancing the Congress from such practices. Goud highlighted that Rao, as an educated member of society, should not indulge in activities that do not align with the values held by the people of Telangana. He reiterated the need for positive politics and urged opposition parties to adopt a constructive approach.

Goud also encouraged engagement with prominent leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, emphasising the importance of collaborative politics focused on the development of Telangana. He asserted that anyone could reach out to Gandhi and that matters of real substance would warrant his attention. Goud’s remarks indicate a desire for constructive dialogue rather than political confrontation.
