Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann commenced his official visit to the Netherlands on April 18, 2026, as confirmed by his office. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Kumar Tuhin. The visit aims to enhance international collaboration and attract foreign investment opportunities for Punjab.

Meeting with International Companies

During the course of his visit, Chief Minister Mann is scheduled to engage with various international companies. His objective is to showcase Punjab as an emerging industrial hub on the global stage. The focus on attracting investment is part of the government’s broader strategy to foster economic development in the region.

Prior to departing for the Netherlands, CM Mann inaugurated several projects in the Attari area of the Amritsar district on April 17, 2026. These initiatives involved the renovation of roads that had been previously neglected. The Chief Minister emphasised that these developments are a significant step towards revamping the border regions, which have not seen adequate attention historically.

As part of the infrastructure development, CM Mann mentioned that the initiatives in the Attari constituency are backed by a financial allocation of Rs 57.80 crore aimed at improving 121 link roads. This is a component of a larger campaign to revitalise the community and its resources.

Commitment to Development and Infrastructure

The Chief Minister also highlighted other significant projects aimed at improving health and education in the Amritsar district. He noted the launch of ‘Schools of Eminence’ and ‘Common Man Clinics’, which are established to serve the needs of the local population effectively. Additionally, a new government college is under construction in Ajnala with an investment of Rs 15 crore.

Furthermore, the revival of canals and watercourses at a cost of Rs 6,500 crore is expected to benefit more than 1,400 villages, facilitating improved irrigation and water supply for farmers. CM Mann underscored that these efforts aim to alleviate the daily challenges faced by farmers in the region.

During his address, CM Mann mentioned the progress made in negotiating with the central government regarding border issues. An agreement has been reached to advance border fencing as part of efforts to tackle the ongoing challenges faced in these areas, including issues related to drug smuggling.

Future Prospects and Initiatives

In addition, an ‘Anti-Drone System’ has been implemented along the border to combat illicit activities, reinforcing the government’s commitment to safety and security in Punjab. CM Mann reiterated that the government is dedicated to fostering a prosperous future for the state, highlighting the importance of community development initiatives.

The visit to the Netherlands represents a key opportunity for Punjab to establish international ties that could result in significant economic benefits. The Chief Minister’s endeavours reflect a long-term vision for the state, focusing on development across various sectors and improving the living standards of its residents.

As CM Mann embarks on this significant international journey, expectations are high for fruitful discussions that may position Punjab prominently on the global industrial map. His agenda includes engaging with key stakeholders in the Netherlands to drive investment and innovation back to Punjab.
