The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has initiated the ‘Adivasi School Thik Karo’ campaign in Rajasthan, focusing on enhancing the conditions of schools and hostels in tribal regions. Ashutosh Ranka, a spokesperson for CJP, announced the campaign on September 17, emphasising its objective to address the educational infrastructure in these areas.

Ranka noted that this effort is a continuation of the ‘School Thik Karo’ initiative, which has involved audits of over 15,000 schools since its commencement on August 15. This initiative aims to highlight the inadequacies in school facilities across the country and actively involves community members and parents in the auditing process.

According to Ranka, the campaign has created significant governmental pressure, resulting in actions being taken in both Haryana and Rajasthan regarding the state of dilapidated school buildings. He referenced recent news where more than 2,800 crumbling school structures in Haryana are set to be demolished as a response to the demands brought forth by the campaign.

Audits and Government Roadmap Announced

In Rajasthan, the CJP and concerned citizens have reportedly audited over 500 schools, prompting the state government to respond with a major initiative. Ranka conveyed that Rajasthan has unveiled a ₹12,500 crore roadmap aimed at refurbishing its rundown school infrastructure over the next three years. This substantial investment is seen as a direct outcome of the campaign’s efforts to push for improved educational facilities.

Ranka expressed his satisfaction with the Rajasthan government’s action, stating that they would closely monitor the execution of this investment. He made it clear that the government is now under pressure to rectify all government schools in the state, asserting that there is no alternative but to ensure improved conditions.

The spokesperson also brought attention to tragic incidents involving school infrastructure in tribal regions. He highlighted concerning statistics from Maharashtra, where reportedly over 600 children have died in the past two years due to unsafe school buildings. Ranka also recalled the roof collapse incident in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, last year, which resulted in the deaths of seven children from the tribal community.

Future Plans and Strategies for Implementation

With the launch of the “Adivasi School Thik Karo” campaign, Ranka announced plans to extend their efforts throughout various tribal areas in Rajasthan. He indicated that the campaign will begin its activities shortly, with inspections set to take place across numerous districts, ensuring that the conditions of schools are thoroughly evaluated.

Ranka articulated a commitment to transparency and accountability in overseeing the implementation of the campaign. He intends to disclose more details about the specific districts and schools that will be assessed. The detailed strategy aims to engage local communities and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment for educational improvement.

As the campaign progresses, the CJP is expected to remain vigilant regarding the state of educational facilities, advocating for necessary reforms.
