Café Owner Dies From Fall, Family Accuses Live-In Partner of Torture

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 27-year-old café owner, Shiva Sharma, tragically lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of an apartment in Lucknow. His family has contended that he was allegedly held captive, subjected to severe mistreatment, and subsequently thrown from the building by his live-in partner, Shraddha Dubey, and her sister. Following the family’s allegations, local authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sharma’s death, aiming to discern if it was a tragic accident or an intentional act of violence.

Family’s Distress and Search

According to Ranjana Sharma, Shiva’s mother, she received a distressing phone call at approximately 8.30 pm on Friday from a woman named Rashmi Dubey. Rashmi reportedly informed her that Shiva had been involved in an accident and was en route to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Alarmed, the family hurried to the hospital only to find that he was not present there.

After searching for around ninety minutes, they discovered that he had been taken to the emergency department of a nearby medical college. Upon their arrival at the medical college emergency, they encountered Danish, the driver associated with Shraddha Dubey. The family alleged that Danish had initially been impersonating another individual.

Upon noticing Shiva’s family, Danish reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind the severely injured Sharma. The ambulance driver subsequently informed the family that he had been shuttling back and forth between the hospital and medical college for three hours with Shiva. Medical personnel at the facility examined Shiva but declared him dead shortly after his arrival, leaving the family devastated and confused over the circumstances of his injuries.

Allegations of Abuse

Shiva’s mother has publicly accused his live-in partner and her sister of inflicting significant physical harm on him prior to his death. She claimed that his body exhibited multiple serious injuries, including fractures to both eyes and his jaw, broken ribs, and a fractured leg. Additionally, she reported that blood was observed coming from his ears and nose, raising further concerns about the nature of the incident.

The family alleged that there were marked signs of cigarette burns and scratches on Shiva’s body, leading them to believe he had endured prolonged physical abuse. They also narrated instances of harassment by Shraddha over the last four to five months, which included threats to frame him in false cases and damage his reputation.

Approximately one week before the tragic event, Shraddha allegedly confronted the family at their shop, insisting that they turn Shiva over to her, with ominous warnings about potential repercussions if they refused. Furthermore, the family claimed that individuals associated with Shraddha had been monitoring their home and business activities, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. They are calling for justice and a thorough examination of the events leading to their son’s untimely death.

Ongoing Investigation

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Verma confirmed that an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances of Shiva’s fall from the fourth floor. A case has been registered in response to the family’s complaints, and law enforcement is carefully investigating whether he was forcibly pushed from the building or if his death arose from other circumstances.

Investigators are currently evaluating forensically and technically to clarify the situation surrounding the incident. The allegations against Shiva’s live-in partner and her sister are being thoroughly scrutinised as part of this process, and police are committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic event.
