BLA Claims 27 Attacks in Balochistan, Reports Military and Civilian Casualties

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has asserted that it executed 27 operations in various districts of Balochistan from April 15 to April 25. This information was disseminated through a statement by the group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, and was reported by The Balochistan Post. The group indicated that these operations involved improvised explosive device (IED) blasts, ambushes, raids, and drone strikes, all directed at Pakistani security personnel.

In its claim, the BLA stated that these attacks resulted in the deaths of 42 military personnel from Pakistan, with several others reportedly injured and one soldier taken captive during these encounters. The BLA also asserted it had seized weapons and briefly gained control over various posts and facilities belonging to the Pakistani forces.

The statement highlighted that three BLA fighters lost their lives in the course of the engagements. According to the BLA, an attack was coordinated against advancing Pakistani troops in the Sohnda area using a remote-controlled IED, which was followed by an ambush that allegedly led to multiple casualties among the military personnel.

Allegations of Civilian Casualties and Further Attacks

The BLA further claimed that following the initial clash, Pakistani forces conducted operations in nearby civilian areas, resulting in the death of 11 individuals, as noted in the report by The Balochistan Post. The group also stated that attacks occurred in the Almark area of Kharan through IED explosions and ambushes, compelling Pakistani forces to retreat and incurring casualties on their side.

In the city of Quetta, the BLA claimed responsibility for an attack targeting an “Eagle Squad” police unit on Qambrani Road, which reportedly left two personnel injured. Additionally, the group announced the killing of an individual alleged to have links with pro-government armed factions, often referred to as “death squads,” in the Kohlu district.

The BLA also reported attacks against armed groups and security forces in Besima, asserting that these encounters resulted in injuries and fatalities. Clashes were also reported in the Shahrag area of Harnai, where the BLA claimed the capture of a soldier.

Further Claims and Responses

These developments occur amidst a broader context of ongoing unrest in the region. The BLA has been engaged in an extended struggle for greater autonomy and rights for the Baloch people. The group frequently conducts operations targeting military and security establishments, claiming to retaliate against perceived injustices involving the local population.

The Pakistani military has not publicly confirmed the details outlined in the BLA statement, nor acknowledged the specific losses mentioned. The situation in Balochistan continues to be a focal point for violence, with both sides reporting significant confrontations that have raised concerns over civilian safety and regional stability.
