Bhavitha Mandava, a renowned model whose rise in the fashion industry was somewhat unplanned, graced the Chanel runway with a distinctive ensemble. This appearance marked her return to the Chanel fashion show, notably departing from her previously associated casual look featuring a sweater and jeans. The Hyderabad-native model has now become a Chanel House Ambassador and showcased a whimsical beige dress adorned with eye-catching red feather accents.
Mandava’s appearance occurred on the second day of Paris Haute Couture Week at the Grand Palais, which had been creatively transformed into a garden setting. The venue hosted the latest collection from the creative director Matthieu Blazy, who has been with Chanel since December 2024.
This collection represented Blazy’s second haute couture showcase for the brand, bringing fresh interpretations to the classic fashion house through imaginative designs inspired by a leather-bound compilation of fairy tales discovered in Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s home.
Creative Inspiration and Theme of the Collection
The new offerings were a vibrant celebration of whimsy, incorporating elements drawn from storybooks. The designs featured motifs such as florals, butterflies, and various whimsical figures like sleeping bears and swans. Blazy’s inspiration aimed to encapsulate the essence of a fairy tale, resembling the narrative of Chanel’s own storied career.
Mandava’s chosen dress perfectly encapsulated this fairy-tale aesthetic. Commenting on her experience, she expressed feelings akin to Cinderella, reflecting on her transformative journey within the fashion scene. Her narrative resonates with the collection’s magical themes, generating excitement among attendees.
Chanel’s latest collection has drawn significant attention not only for its artistic inspirations but also for its bold and striking presentation, ensuring the runway was alive with creativity and imagination.
