The CSR Journal Magazine

Bajaj Finance Limited has disclosed that its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligation for the financial year 2025-26 amounted to Rs 333.97 crore. Out of this total, the company allocated Rs 318.81 crore for various social initiatives, while Rs 15.16 crore remains unspent and has been transferred to a designated account for ongoing projects. This information is derived from the company’s 39th Annual Report for the fiscal year.

The amount designated as unspent pertains specifically to CSR projects that span multiple financial years. On April 27, 2026, the company transferred the Rs 15.16 crore into an Unspent CSR Account held with a scheduled commercial bank, following the stipulations set out under Section 135(6) of the Companies Act, 2013. Such classifications play an essential role in the management of CSR funds aimed at long-term community initiatives.

This financial report provides insights into how Bajaj Finance approaches CSR expenditure through various projects that differ in their implementation timelines. The expenditure for the year encompassed a wide array of sectors, including youth skilling, education, child healthcare, disability inclusion, and efforts centred around child protection.

Allocation and Impact of CSR Activities

During the financial year that concluded on March 31, 2026, Bajaj Finance’s CSR obligation was calculated at 2 per cent of its average net profits. The company’s CSR expenditure was distributed across 217 distinct projects, with Rs 318.81 crore spent during the year, which indicates a strong focus on addressing community needs through financial and social empowerment initiatives.

Details of earlier CSR amounts carried forward are also documented in the annual report. An unspent amount of Rs 20.87 crore from the previous financial year, 2022-23, was effectively utilised for relevant projects, along with Rs 6.19 crore earmarked for FY2023-24. For FY2024-25, Rs 6.24 crore was retained in the Unspent CSR Account but was eventually expended during FY2025-26, illustrating the company’s commitment to fulfilling its CSR obligations over time.

Bajaj Finance’s CSR initiatives reach broad segments of the community, with a reported training of 50,475 students through the Skillserv initiative. The company has implemented a Certificate Programme in Banking, Finance, and Insurance, targeting graduates, particularly from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, to better prepare them for careers in the financial services sector.

Future Commitments and Oversight

The organisation’s broader CSR strategies fall under the auspices of the Bajaj Group, which has earmarked Rs 5,000 crore for a five-year social impact initiative, aimed at engaging with two crore beneficiaries. The initiatives focus on youth skilling and other programmes that support both children and communities, ensuring a wide-ranging effect on societal development.

Independent assessments of the company’s CSR projects have been conducted, with 22 projects reviewed by external agencies during FY2025-26. Notably, the Youth4Jobs programme recorded a successful 55 per cent placement rate among youths with disabilities, while the Haritika Udaan Project reported increased income levels for tribal families involved in the initiative.

Oversight of Bajaj Finance’s CSR activities is managed by a Board-level CSR Committee, which underwent three meetings throughout the year. This committee is tasked with reviewing CSR policies, monitoring project compliance, and overseeing the disbursement of funds, ensuring accountability and transparency in all initiatives undertaken.
