The CSR Journal Magazine

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has revealed a comprehensive roadmap aimed at enhancing the skills and entrepreneurial spirit of the state’s youth by the year 2036. This initiative, termed the Arunachal Human Capital & Economic Transformation Vision 2036, along with the Arun MSME Mission, is designed to create new avenues for employment and enterprise throughout the region.

Khandu articulated the objective of the strategy, stating it aims to develop “a future-ready workforce, globally competitive entrepreneurs, and an innovation-driven economy.” He emphasised that the proposed initiatives would lead to an economy characterised by talent, opportunities, and international recognition.

The chief minister indicated that the vision targets the training of 1 lakh youths, nurturing 10,000 entrepreneurs and 10,000 apprentices, while facilitating overseas placements for 10,000 individuals. Additionally, the plan includes the establishment of 100 partnerships with industries and the transformation of all ten Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into modern skill hubs and centres of excellence.

Focus on Skill Development and Employment Opportunities

Khandu highlighted the importance of equipping young people with skills necessary for competitiveness, not just within Arunachal Pradesh and India but on a global scale. He remarked that the current generation of youth is not merely in search of jobs but also aims to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

To fortify this entrepreneurial spirit, Khandu confirmed the initiation of the Arun MSME Mission, which aims to support 500 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) each year. This support will come in various forms, including revival, capacity enhancement, market linkages, and export assistance.

The transformation of the ten ITIs into modern skill hubs is expected to strengthen the foundation for skill acquisition. Khandu believes that partnerships with various industries will ensure that training is aligned with emerging job opportunities, thereby fostering local entrepreneurship and generating employment for the youth.

Anticipated Impact on Youth and Economic Growth

The chief minister conveyed that the ambition of youth knows no age, and that vision is boundless, as he outlined the objectives of Vision 2036. He asserted that the skills acquired by today’s youth will significantly contribute to the growth of Arunachal Pradesh in the future.

Khandu’s vision aims to create a supportive environment for job creation, entrepreneurial support, and preparation for young individuals to seize opportunities both in India and abroad. The initiative is expected to catalyse economic transformation led by the younger population of the state.

In summary, the roadmap introduced by CM Pema Khandu represents a strategic approach to harness the potential of the youth in Arunachal Pradesh. Through focused training, enhanced entrepreneurial opportunities, and international placements, the state aims to cultivate a dynamic workforce prepared to meet the demands of the global economy by 2036.
