Chemical pesticides have impacted very badly not only on soil health and ecosystem but also on the socio-economic status of the farmers due to declining productivity and increased cost of cultivation. Further, the indiscriminate application of chemical fertilizers and Pesticides made the Pests develop resistance against Pesticide Molecules resulting in alarming proportion of Pesticide Residues in Food Chain and thus making Agriculture as a non-viable proportion leading to Migration from Rural Areas by the Farmers.
To mitigate the above problems, Adani Foundation has initiated Organic Farming Project wherein the Farmers of our Intervened Villages have been sensitized on the ill-effects of blanket application of Chemical Inputs to the Crops which not only affecting their Soil Health and Yield but also increased the Cost of Cultivation drastically and educated them on the Preparation of various Bio-formulations to meet out the Nutritional Requirement of the Crops and also for Plant Protection aspects to control the Pests and Diseases besides facilitating them to prepare the required Bio-inputs in Groups and monitoring their Application to the Mandate Crops under the supervision of Agri Volunteers.
Keeping the successful involvement of 330 Beneficiary Farmers to adopt Organic Farming during 2021-22 and 2022-23 and also to meet out the growing demand for Certified Organic Produces by Consumers, we have facilitated 100 Farmers during 2023-24 and 102 Farmers during 2024-25 to adopt Organic Farming Protocols as prescribed by Organic Certification Department and obtained Organic Green1 Certificate under PGS Organic Certification Program of Government of India for their Produces. Further, we have also assisted 99 Farmers to get Organic Green 2 Certificate for their second year Organic Cultivation of Paddy during 2024-25.

In view of the adoption of Organic Protocols, the Soil Fertility has been increased, and the Beneficiary Farmers could be able to see Earthworms, Snails etc in their Fields after a long time. These happenings have enthused not only other Farmers of the Villages but also neighbouring Villages like Ooranambedu and Sengazhineermedu of to Voyalur Panchayat to switch over to Organic Cultivation
In view of the development, Adani Foundation has programmed to assist 501 Farmers including 300 New Farmers to take up Organic Cultivation under PGS Organic Certification Programme during the current year 2025.
Registration of Organic FPO: Minjur Organic Farmers Producers Company Limited
Our Organic Farmers face challenges both in Production and Postproduction stages like availability of Quality Inputs at reasonable Prices, Credit, Custom Hiring and most importantly Market Access. Now there are 200 farmers and by 30th April 2025 there will be 500 farmers who will be part of the FPO having their paid shares.
With a view to solve the above issues being faced by them and to facilitate Organized Market Linkages for realizing Premium Prices for their Produces, we have formed Kattur Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited at Kattur and registered under Companies Act 1956 of Government of India during 2024-25.
