Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, has sharply criticised the Central Government during a media interaction held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on July 30. He raised concerns regarding threats he allegedly faced during student protests while questioning the efficacy and morality of current government leaders. Dipke claimed he received threats suggesting that failing to support the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could put his family at risk, expressing his dismay over such intimidation tactics employed by prominent officials.

He directly pointed out that individuals who occupy high political offices should not resort to intimidating a student. Dipke articulated concerns about the implications of such actions on broader democratic values, indicating that the behaviour exhibited by those in power raises probing questions about their leadership.

In defending his position, Dipke challenged the notion that his actions could lead to misleading the youth. He asserted that advocating for democracy, questioning the government, and fighting for educational rights are not corruptive practices but rather essential components of a healthy society.

Concerns Over Recent Violence and Allegations

Dipke expressed grave concerns about violence reported during protests, specifically pointing to accusations surrounding Home Minister Amit Shah. He argued that police reports are directly under the Ministry of Home Affairs, which should make the Home Minister aware of such incidents. He refuted claims made by the BJP that discredited reports of violence, noting that he had witnessed injured students receiving treatment in hospitals across Bihar.

Furthermore, he alleged that heavy-handed police tactics, including the use of weapons like AK-47s, were inappropriately deployed against protesters. Dipke accused the government of diverting military-grade weapons meant for counter-terrorism against students, resulting in injuries and trauma.

Amidst questions about forming alliances with opposition parties, Dipke called for collective action among all opposition forces to safeguard democracy. He alleged that students continued to face harassment and arrests following protests, further indicating that the government’s principles may not align with democratic ideals.

Education System and Paper Leak Issues

Dipke’s critique extended to the education sector, focusing on the government’s repeated failures to address paper leak incidents in Maharashtra. He called attention to the lack of seriousness regarding fast-track courts promised for such cases, indicating that the first hearing had been adjourned due to the absence of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) counsel. His statements suggested that while election rallies run smoothly, the same dedication is not afforded to educational matters.

Moreover, he challenged the government’s prioritisation, questioning why special trains are arranged during political elections while students journeying to take critical exams face travel hardships, often spending nights stranded with no access to proper food. His remarks shed light on the contrast between the government’s approach to political activities versus its obligations toward students.

Dipke also addressed the situation surrounding the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) paper leak, asserting that key government figures have shown little genuine commitment to improving the educational framework. He claimed that many leaders’ children studying abroad insulated them from the issues faced by students in India, leading to a disconnect between policymakers and the realities on the ground.
