Gujarat Introduces Marketing Support Scheme for Sakhi Mandals

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (GLPC) has announced the introduction of a new initiative called the ‘Marketing Support Scheme’. This scheme aims to facilitate financial independence for rural women linked with Sakhi Mandals by connecting their products to various e-commerce platforms, as well as both national and international markets.

The launch of this initiative was spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, under the oversight of Rural Development Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya and Minister of State Sanjaysinh Mahida. A financial provision of Rs 25 crore has been allocated for the year 2026-27 to assist these women in gaining access to the digital marketplace.

The official announcement stated that rural women’s products have primarily found buyers through local fairs and exhibitions. The new scheme aims to broaden their market reach significantly.

Financial Assistance Offered Under the Scheme

The Marketing Support Scheme is designed to provide various forms of financial assistance to enable Sakhi Mandals to navigate the registration processes required for e-commerce. This includes support of up to Rs 15,000 for GST registration, Rs 10,000 for acquiring an FSSAI licence, and Rs 2,000 for PAN card registration.

In addition to these registrations, the scheme offers an online sales incentive of Rs 20 for each order fulfilled. Each Sakhi Mandal is eligible for lifetime support up to Rs 5 lakh, aiming to enhance their financial capabilities and potential business growth.

This structured assistance is intended to empower rural women, enabling them to generate income from home and aiming to turn them into ‘Lakhpati Didis’, thereby contributing to the local economy.

Success Stories from the Initiative

With financial assistance through a bank loan amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh, Rekhaben expanded her business and was able to create job opportunities for other local women in her community. Currently, her spice business generates an annual revenue exceeding Rs 10.96 lakh.

The success of Rekhaben’s venture serves as a testament to the potential impact of the new Marketing Support Scheme, indicating that similar Sakhi Mandals can also thrive by accessing e-commerce platforms and reaching customers beyond their local environment.
