4 Crore names, mostly BJP voters maybe removed due to SIR in Uttar Pradesh! Yogi Adityanath concerned

The CSR Journal Magazine

It’s not just the opposition that is worried about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. Now, a tone of concern has been heard from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He says that after the Special Intensive revision in Uttar Pradesh, the names of approximately 4 crore voters may be removed from the electoral roll, the majority of whom are BJP voters.

According to sources, in a recent meeting with BJP leaders, CM Yogi said, “Go to the villages. Help with voter verification. Find the voters whose names might be removed. Because most of the four crore voters who are reportedly missing are BJP voters. The removal of 4 crore voters’ names in this way is truly worrying.” In a defensive tone, state minister Dayashankar Singh has said that many people had votes registered in both villages and cities. The removal of these duplicate entries is the reason for so many voters being missing.

Yogi’s expression of concern is somewhat surprising. Because in most other states of the country, the opposition is more worried about the ongoing SIR. In Uttar Pradesh, however, the BJP is more concerned.

Learning about this, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav did not miss the opportunity to take a dig. He said, “It seems that the guardians of the PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, Tribals) are keeping such a strict vigil that the BJP is unable to steal votes as per their wish. They are unable to carry out their conspiracies.” Akhilesh further alleged, “The Election Commission extended the SIR deadline to manipulate things at the behest of the BJP. But our guardians are keeping such a strict watch that no manipulation will be possible.”

Election Commission extends SIR deadline by one week

Notably, the Election Commission extended the deadline for the SIR in Uttar Pradesh at the last minute. ECI recently extended the deadline for submission of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across five states and one Union Territory by one week. SIR deadline has been extended for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

According to the Election Commission’s notification, the deadline for submitting enumeration forms in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat has been extended to December 19 from the previous deadline of December 14. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the last date for submitting enumeration forms is now December 23 as compared to the previous date of December 18.

In Uttar Pradesh, enumeration forms can be submitted until December 26. The deadline for publishing the draft voter list has also been changed. In Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the draft list will be published on December 19. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the list will be released on December 23. In Uttar Pradesh, the draft list will be published on December 31 instead of its previous deadline of December 26.
