The Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has extended the deadline for its technology hackathon to September 15. Originally set for August 31, the extension provides an additional 15 days for startups and technology professionals to submit their innovative solutions. This decision follows numerous requests for more time to address key challenges associated with the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
The hackathon is designed to foster technology-driven solutions for the large-scale religious event, focusing on six critical areas: sanitation, COVID and first response, and 360-degree surveillance and security. The participation of young technologists is encouraged, as their contributions could significantly impact the success of the event.
Participants can expect that around 50 solutions will be shortlisted for presentations. Eventually, 18 entries will be selected for further scrutiny, with the top six innovations to be showcased to the Maharashtra Chief Minister at an anticipated Tech Summit in Nashik. This platform aims to facilitate the adoption of suitable solutions during the Kumbh Mela.
Chief Minister’s Statement on Kumbh Preparations
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently commented on the various preparations for the Kumbh Mela. He noted that the Kumbh Bhakti Sangam has commenced and expressed confidence that all infrastructure and related works would be completed well in advance of the first ‘Parvani’, which marks the start of the festival activities.
Fadnavis announced that the ceremonial flag-hoisting for the Kumbh Mela is planned for October 31. Following this, events will proceed according to a pre-established schedule. The Chief Minister emphasised that the Bhakti Sangam seeks to unite devotional traditions from across India and embodies the spiritual essence of the Kumbh.
<h4″The Kumbh Bhakti Sangam has begun today,” Fadnavis stated. He elaborated that this initiative aims at showcasing the various devotional practices from different regions, reinforcing the Kumbh’s significance as a spiritual confluence. Through this event, the government intends to enhance public engagement with these traditions.
Development Work and Public Inconvenience
In his remarks, Chief Minister Fadnavis acknowledged the ongoing development projects in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, which have resulted in some inconvenience for local residents. He assured them that these initiatives would ultimately transform the region’s landscape.
