The CSR Journal Magazine

Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold in China, adding to its line of book-style foldable smartphones. This new model is designed to compete with recent offerings in the market, featuring a wide, compact form factor. Equipped with the advanced Xring O3 flagship chipset, it also boasts a Leica-tuned triple rear camera configuration and a substantial 6,000mAh battery. The device features large AMOLED displays on both its outer cover and flexible inner side and operates on Android 17-based HyperOS 4. Pre-orders for the smartphone are currently open in China, with general sales expected to commence later this month.

Specifications and Features of the Xiaomi 18 Fold

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is fitted with a cover display measuring 5.38 inches, which utilises AMOLED technology and offers a refresh rate of 120Hz. The inner foldable display, larger at 7.58 inches, also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can deliver up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. The inner screen employs low-power Pol-less technology, while the outer display is safeguarded by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.

Internally, the smartphone operates on Xiaomi’s 3nm deca-core Xring O3 AI chipset and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM alongside 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The most advanced variant utilises LPDDR6 memory and is pre-loaded with Android 17-based HyperOS 4. In terms of photography, the Leica-backed triple camera setup features a 200-megapixel primary sensor with an f1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation. This is complemented by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera offering 3.5x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera for broader shots. Selfie enthusiasts will benefit from dual 16-megapixel cameras integrated within both displays.

The device houses a robust 6,000mAh battery that supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Despite the substantial power capacity, Xiaomi has managed to keep the foldable device slim, measuring 5.02mm when unfolded and 10.68mm when folded, with a total weight of 219 grams. Additional features include side-mounted fingerprint unlocking and facial recognition technology, as well as stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos and spatial audio. It supports dual Nano-SIM cards, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port, alongside IP58 and IP59 ratings for water and dust resistance.
