Xiaomi Launches Redmi 17C 5G Smartphone in India on October 7

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi 17C 5G as the latest addition to its smartphone lineup in India. This model follows the release of its predecessor, the Redmi 15C, which emerged in December of last year. The new device boasts a sizable display, substantial battery capacity, and connectivity features aimed at enhancing user experience.

Building on the Redmi brand’s reputation, the smartphone is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset and operates on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. The launch event has generated considerable interest, as consumers look forward to new features and improved performance.

Set to enter the Indian market, the Redmi 17C 5G will officially go on sale on October 7, 2023. The announcement has attracted attention from tech enthusiasts eager to explore what the new device has to offer.

Specifications and Features

The Redmi 17C 5G is designed with a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display that supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, ensuring smoother animations and scrolling. The screen achieves brightness levels of up to 810 nits in high brightness mode, optimising visibility even in bright conditions. To promote eye comfort, it has received certifications from TV Rheinland for Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly viewing.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Mobile Platform, the smartphone can accommodate up to 12GB of RAM with Memory Extension in multitasking scenarios, although the standard version includes up to 6GB of physical RAM. This configuration aims to enhance the user experience by allowing smoother operation during intensive tasks.

The photography capabilities feature a 50-megapixel AI rear camera, equipped with multiple modes including Ultra HD, Portrait, and Night modes. For selfies, an 8-megapixel front camera is available, catering to users who prioritise imaging performance in their smartphones.

Batteries and Durability Features

The Redmi 17C 5G is equipped with an impressive 6,000mAh battery, coupled with 33W fast charging technology. The manufacturer claims that the battery can maintain 80 per cent of its capacity after 1,000 full charging cycles, suggesting longevity and reliability for everyday use.

For enhanced durability, the device has earned an IP64 rating, indicating resistance to water and dust. It also features Wet Touch Technology 2.0, which enables the display to remain functional even when users’ fingers are moist or oily, making it suitable for a variety of situations.

Operating on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, the smartphone introduces features such as Google Gemini and Circle to Search, subject to availability. Additional capabilities include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 200 per cent volume boost, targeting users who seek efficient functionality.

Pricing and Availability

In terms of cost, the Redmi 17C 5G is available in two variants: the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 20,999, while the model featuring 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is listed at Rs 22,999. The smartphone will be offered in three colour options: Dark Night, Coffee Brew, and Purple Dawn.

The anticipation surrounding the device is heightened by its availability through various platforms, including Mi.com, Amazon India, and selected Xiaomi Retail outlets. The launch aligns with Xiaomi’s ongoing strategy to cater to diverse consumer needs in the competitive smartphone market.
