Weather Change Expected Across Northern India on Tuesday

The CSR Journal Magazine

Significant weather changes are anticipated in northern India on Tuesday, with increased cloud cover forecasted across various regions. This shift is expected to bring light snowfall to the Himalayan area and scattered thunderstorms in some parts of the plains. According to weather experts, the clouding will be more prominent over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, where light snowfall may become slightly more intense compared to recent days. Initial precipitation is expected to be mostly light, but activity might escalate further after March 18.

Impact on the Plains

On the plains of northern India, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh, the previously clear and dry conditions experienced on Monday are likely to shift as clouds begin to gather. Devendra Tripathi, founder of Mausam Tak, indicated that isolated weather events such as dust storms, thunderstorms, and light drizzles may occur in select areas, particularly across parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh.

Himalayan Region and Northeast States

The Himalayan states are expected to experience initial light snowfall or rain, with the potential for stronger weather activity as western disturbances affect the area. Additionally, northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, as well as the Sikkim Himalaya and parts of West Bengal, could see increased rainfall.

Pre-Monsoon Showers Predicted

Light pre-monsoon showers may also occur in eastern and central regions of India. Areas such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and eastern Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience scattered rainfall. Similar weather activity is expected to reach parts of Maharashtra, especially the Vidarbha region, along with south Konkan and Goa. Conversely, several areas, including much of Gujarat, southern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh, and northern Maharashtra, are projected to remain predominantly dry, with cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Jabalpur anticipating dry weather.

Temperature Changes Across the Region

The recent snowfall in the Himalayan region has already contributed to a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures across northern India, with reductions of approximately one to two degrees Celsius reported in various locations. Meteorologists suggest that a slight further decline in both maximum and minimum temperatures may occur within the next 24 hours. The accompanying cooler air and light winds are expected to reintroduce a mild winter-like chill to parts of north India, particularly during the early morning and nighttime hours.
