On June 4, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the transfer of Rs 176.59 crore in pension funds during a State-Level Mass Awareness and Orientation Programme held at the IRDT Auditorium in Dehradun. This initiative benefits a total of 974,338 beneficiaries, aimed at enhancing social welfare in the state.

Emphasis on Social Welfare and Drug-Free Society

During the event, Chief Minister Dhami administered a pledge promoting a drug-free society and honouring senior citizens. He underscored the importance of ensuring that welfare schemes effectively reach every corner of society. The Chief Minister reiterated that the government’s mission is to eliminate obstacles in delivering these benefits, ensuring no eligible individual is overlooked.

Dhami pointed out that current welfare activities, as guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, have expanded significantly across India. The guiding principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” or “Together with All, Development for All, Trust of All, and Efforts by All,” are central to these initiatives. He cited various schemes such as the Jan Dhan Yojana and Ujjwala Yojana that have positively impacted millions.

The Chief Minister noted that the government is focused on strengthening social justice by implementing initiatives like the Antyodaya scheme, which provides three free LPG cylinders annually to eligible families. He also highlighted that provisions for differently-abled government employees have been enhanced and that women are receiving economic empowerment through Self-Help Groups associated with the “Lakhpati Didi Yojana.”

Progress in Economic and Infrastructure Development

The Chief Minister shared that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand has experienced remarkable advancements in various sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, and education. The successful hosting of the National Games and G-20 meetings has elevated the state’s international visibility, paving the way for ongoing investment proposals from the Global Investors Summit.

Furthermore, he noted that the state is actively pursuing winter tourism initiatives and accelerating projects related to the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand Temple Garland Missions. Several infrastructural projects, such as the Sharda Corridor and Rishikesh-Haridwar Corridor, are progressing rapidly to enhance connectivity.

Dhami highlighted significant economic achievements, mentioning that Uttarakhand’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has shown a growth rate of 7.23 per cent over the past year, and per capita income has soared by 41 per cent since 2019. Additionally, unemployment in the state has dropped by 4.4 per cent, outpacing the national average.

Implementation of Strict Governance Measures

The state government has introduced robust legal measures, including an anti-conversion law, anti-riot legislation, and a land protection law, claiming that over 11,000 acres of government land have been cleared from encroachment. Furthermore, recent enforcement of the anti-cheating law has facilitated over 33,000 youths in securing government jobs through transparent processes.

In order to further enhance the effectiveness of welfare schemes, the Chief Minister outlined a four-point strategy focused on extensive outreach, simplification of procedures, maximising technology use, and ensuring regular monitoring. He urged members of various commissions and councils to actively engage with remote and district areas to oversee the implementation of programmes at the grassroots level.

Through these initiatives, Chief Minister Dhami aims to foster inclusive growth and ensure that the benefits of governmental policies reach all segments of society, reinforcing the state’s commitment to social welfare and economic development.
