Uttar Pradesh: Minor Girl Found Semi-Naked with Man in Closed Shop, Later Accuses Him of Rape

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking case of alleged rape involving a minor girl has triggered public outcry in Uttar Pradesh. This comes after a video showing the girl in a semi-nude condition inside a locked shop in Aligarh’s Iglas area surfaced online. The video was reportedly filmed on July 25, and shows the girl with a man. The man was later identified as Armaan, who has since been arrested by local police.

According to officials, the video was captured by a local resident who opened the shop’s shutter while recording. The disturbing footage quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting swift police intervention.

Girl Alleges Rape, Met Accused on Instagram

The girl, in a written complaint to police, stated that she had become acquainted with Armaan through Instagram. She had travelled to the Iglas area for personal work. During this, Armaan allegedly lured her into a band shop. He then raped her after locking the shutter from the outside.

The girl, who claims to have been born in 2007 and belongs to a Scheduled Caste community. She is currently undergoing a medical examination to verify her age. If confirmed to be a minor, police will invoke the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in the alleged case.

“On July 25, a video surfaced on social media showing a boy and a girl in an objectionable condition inside a shop. Based on the girl’s complaint, an FIR was registered at Iglas Police Station. The accused has been arrested and legal proceedings are ongoing,” said Circle Officer Mahesh Kumar.

Two More Child Rape Cases Reported in UP

This incident is part of a disturbing trend, as two other cases involving the rape of minors have been reported in Uttar Pradesh in recent days. On Sunday, in Banda district’s Kalinjar area, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 20-year-old neighbour. The accused was arrested after an encounter with police. The accused opened fire during the attempt to arrest him and was shot in both legs by the police before being taken into custody.

“A police team was formed to arrest the accused after a family member of the victim reported the incident. The team surrounded the accused, who opened fire. Police retaliated, and the accused was shot in both legs,” the Superintendent of Police (SP) Palash Bansal said.

In another such incident in Kasganj, police arrested a man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl. The suspect also fired at police before being injured in retaliatory fire. Authorities recovered an illegal pistol and ammunition from his possession.

Kasganj SP Ankita Sharma said, “As police surrounded the accused, he opened fire at the cops. In retaliatory firing, he sustained a bullet wound on his leg. He has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment.”

Growing Concern Over Safety of Children

These back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns over the safety of minors in the state. Law enforcement agencies have stepped up efforts to monitor online interactions and crack down on illegal arms and predatory behavior, particularly involving vulnerable children.

Investigations in all three cases are ongoing, and authorities have assured strict legal action under relevant laws, including the POCSO Act.
