Uttar Pradesh Government Promotes Education and Employment for Youth

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asserted that the state government prioritises education and employment as fundamental components for the development of its youth. Speaking at the Panchayat Aaj Tak programme, he noted that numerous initiatives have been introduced to enhance opportunities for young people in the state. Adityanath emphasised the importance of transforming the educational environment to facilitate better access to learning resources.

Among the initiatives discussed were the PM SHRI schools and the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), which aim to support children from underprivileged backgrounds by providing improved infrastructure and learning tools. The Chief Minister pointed out that these institutions are pivotal in bridging the educational gap faced by many disadvantaged students.

Focus on Educational Infrastructure

According to the Ministry of Education, Uttar Pradesh has selected 1,888 schools under the PM SHRI programme as part of its educational reforms. The comprehensive KGBV network also plays a crucial role, comprising 746 residential schools that focus on integrating girls who are out of school or have never enrolled. Currently, around 78,552 girls are registered in these schools, nearing their full capacity of 79,600.

Additionally, the government is investing in hands-on learning experiences, with 955 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) established across the state. These labs aim to foster curiosity and creativity among students by engaging them in areas like design thinking and computational skills. Nationwide, over 10,000 ATLs have been opened, with participation from more than 1.1 crore students, highlighting a broader trend in Indian education towards innovation.

The infrastructure improvements in PM SHRI schools include advanced facilities such as ICT labs, smart classrooms, vocational training centres, and recreational areas. This holistic approach underscores the government’s commitment to providing quality education and equipping students with the skills necessary for future employment opportunities.

Employment Opportunities for Youth

The Chief Minister also drew attention to the government’s achievements in job creation, reporting that approximately 9.5 lakh government positions have been filled during his administration. He described this figure as the highest number of government jobs filled by any state in India, highlighting the administration’s focus on transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

Adityanath linked these employment initiatives directly to the aspirations of the state’s youth, asserting that access to quality education and job opportunities is essential for their development. He argued that young people seek not only education but also avenues to build prosperous futures.

While promoting his government’s achievements, Adityanath contrasted the current administration’s emphasis on employment and educational reforms with the policies of the previous Samajwadi Party government. He suggested that his government’s ongoing initiatives represent a significant shift towards a more beneficial approach for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.
