UPSC Confirms Akanksha Singh from Ghazipur Secured Rank 301

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially confirmed that Akanksha Singh from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, achieved the 301st rank in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. This announcement follows reports of confusion arising from two candidates sharing the same name claiming identical ranks. The UPSC’s clarification came after media outlets and social media narratives suggested that both women were laying claim to rank 301 after the final results were announced on Friday.

Details of the Confirmed Candidate

The UPSC stated in a press release disseminated by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) that Akanksha Singh, with roll number 0856794, is the candidate who earned this position, supported by her parents’ names, Ranjit Singh and Neelam Singh. She resides in the village of Abhaipur in Ghazipur district.

Emergence of Controversy

This situation escalated with reports of another Akanksha Singh, from Ara in Bihar, asserting she had achieved the same rank. This Ara-based candidate is reportedly the granddaughter of Brahmeshwar Singh, the founder of the now-banned militia Ranvir Sena, who was murdered in 2012. Confusion surrounding the matter was amplified by the circulation of an admit card on social media that seemingly presented both names alongside the same roll number.

Claims from Ara-Based Candidate

Candidate’s Response and Clarification

The Ghazipur resident provided evidence of her claims, attaching what she described as her original identification documents and e-summons in her social media communications. In a subsequent video message, she clarified her professional background as a gynaecologist currently practicing at Patna AIIMS. In her message, she stated, “I am aware that another girl is claiming the 301st rank.”

Verification Process Suggested

To resolve any ambiguity surrounding the issue, the Ghazipur candidate suggested that interested individuals could scan the QR codes present on both admit cards to ensure clarity regarding the rightful rank holder. Her video message aimed at dispelling doubts about her legitimacy and identity within the context of this examination achievement.
