The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare announced that Bharat-VISTAAR is an AI-based platform designed to consolidate essential information for farmers. It will provide updates on:

  • Weather conditions

  • Soil health and crop management

  • Central government schemes

The platform will be accessible via voice calls, chatbots, and a future mobile app, making it usable even by farmers with basic feature phones.

Multi-Language Support and Nationwide Reach

Initially, Bharat-VISTAAR will support Hindi and English and is expected to reach millions of farmers in Maharashtra, Bihar, and Gujarat. Farmers nationwide will also participate remotely through connections with state agriculture ministers, ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), agricultural universities, and other institutions.

AI for Agriculture Roadmap and Additional Initiatives

During the event, the government will introduce the AI for Agriculture Roadmap, alongside announcements regarding an AI Hackathon and AgriKosh. These initiatives aim to strengthen the use of AI and digital resources in agriculture, providing farmers with easy access to information and support.

User-Friendly Features for Farmers

Bharat-VISTAAR is a voice-first AI system, allowing farmers to access vital information via phone calls. A dedicated helpline number 155261 is available for voice interaction. Additionally, web and mobile chatbots are integrated, and an Android app is expected to launch soon.
