Garmin has introduced its latest flagship outdoor smartwatches, the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro. The company highlights significant improvements in battery life, display brightness, and overall design. The Fenix 9 Pro, in particular, features a full titanium casing and a slimmer profile, catering to users who prefer premium aesthetics and durability.

Specifications and Features

Both models are available in sizes of 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm, each featuring AMOLED display options. The larger configurations also incorporate a more efficient Memory in Pixel (MiP) display along with integrated solar charging capabilities. Notably, the Fenix 9 Pro Solar model boasts an impressive battery life of 291 days when in battery-saver mode.

The standard Fenix 9 model offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode for the largest size, while the Fenix 9 Pro can achieve up to 31 days with AMOLED and up to 57 days with solar charging. The Pro version utilises a titanium casing instead of the fibre-reinforced polymer found in the standard model, presenting a more robust design.

Both versions are equipped with Garmin’s extensive outdoor and fitness functionalities, which include GPS navigation, health monitoring capabilities, Garmin Pay, and numerous sports modes. The Fenix 9 series also features the Garmin Epic function, enabling users to consolidate multiple days of activities into a cohesive adventure narrative, integrating photos, health metrics, and performance statistics.

Additional enhancements include a new LED flashlight with red, green, and white light options, along with the Elevate 5 sensor that tracks heart rate, blood oxygen levels, skin temperature, and ECG. The Fenix 9 Pro also features a MiP display with embedded solar cells on the 47mm and 51mm configurations.

Connectivity Upgrades and Features

A significant connectivity improvement in the new smartwatch line is the introduction of inReach functionality, available through an integrated LTE modem. This feature enables satellite messaging and location services, allowing users to maintain communication in areas without mobile network coverage. However, these services necessitate an additional subscription.

The Fenix 9 series has been designed for adventurers and fitness enthusiasts alike, ensuring that connectivity and tracking are not compromised when venturing into remote locations. Garmin aims to enhance user safety and convenience with these updates.

Pricing and Availability

The Fenix 9 model is priced starting at $999.99, approximately Rs 95,238, while the Fenix 9 Pro begins at $1,099, about Rs 1,04,665. The MilP display variants of the Fenix 9 Pro in 43mm and 47mm configurations are also set at $1,099. The larger 51mm version starts at $1,199, available with either AMOLED or solar-powered MiP displays.

To add inReach connectivity, users will incur an additional cost of $100, coupled with the requirement of a separate subscription for satellite services. Garmin has announced that both the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro will be available for order through its online store from August 28, 2026.
