“TMC Has Become Carbon Copy of Left:” PM Modi at Murshidabad Rally

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a robust critique of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during a public rally held in Murshidabad on April 11. He accused the ruling party of imitating the governance practices of the Left and asserted that it has failed to institute meaningful change in West Bengal. Modi’s remarks were part of his broader campaign as the state approaches crucial elections.

During his address, he highlighted the political history of Bengal, remarking that entrenched powers have repeatedly fallen to the electorate. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the citizens of West Bengal would soon reject the TMC just as they have done with previous ruling entities such as the British, Congress, and the Left.

Modi specifically mentioned the TMC’s rise to power was founded upon the promise of ‘Ma Mati Manush’, a slogan that he claims they have failed to honour. According to the Prime Minister, as soon as the TMC assumed office, it became indistinguishable from the Left in its operational style.

Claims of Corruption in TMC Administration

During the rally, PM Modi made significant allegations regarding corruption within the TMC administration. He stated that networks of corruption that characterised the previous government have persisted under TMC rule. He alleged that individuals linked to the Left have transitioned into the current governance structure.

He remarked, “All the goons and syndicates associated with the Left have migrated to the Trinamool.” Modi further claimed that the TMC is now involved in various illegal activities, including the smuggling of weapons, narcotics, and cattle, alongside the corruption practices that were once emblematic of the Left government.

The Prime Minister reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to improving governance and ensuring national security. He announced plans to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in West Bengal, highlighting the BJP’s goal of ending what he termed a “politics of appeasement.”

BJP’s Vision for West Bengal Elections

Modi presented the BJP’s electoral ambitions in West Bengal as part of a larger political mission aimed at dismantling what he described as TMC’s “Jungle Raj” and “Syndicate Raj.” He conveyed that the party’s commitment transcends mere electoral promises and is intended to signal the end of TMC’s ruling practices.

The Prime Minister assured listeners that should the BJP gain power, the situation in the state would undergo significant transformation, which would include enhanced accountability. He specifically addressed women’s safety, promising that the daughters of Bengal would be protected.

Modi also cautioned those shielding corruption within the state that a BJP victory on May 4 would lead to consequences for such behaviour. He underscored the stakes of the upcoming elections, which are scheduled for April 23 and 29, with results set to be announced on May 4.

The significance of these elections is magnified by the previous electoral cycle in 2021 when the TMC secured a commanding 213 seats. However, the BJP’s rise from a minor position to 77 seats indicates a competitive landscape as the parties prepare for this pivotal political confrontation.
