The recent discovery of three witnesses is considered a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Ketan Agarwal. The authorities have stated that these individuals allegedly witnessed the suspects, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhury, at Lohagad Fort during the incident. Agarwal, a real estate professional based in Pune, reportedly fell to his death from a steep gorge on June 18, an act allegedly orchestrated by his fiancée, Goyal, and her acquaintance, Chaudhury.

In the investigation, it was revealed that Goyal, who is 20 years old, and Chaudhury, aged 26, purportedly attempted to employ contract killers from a neighbouring state to eliminate Agarwal. Reports suggest that during the incident, Chaudhury allegedly pushed Agarwal, while Goyal might have kicked him, resulting in his fall into the 400-foot gorge.

The Pune Rural police’s chargesheet, recently submitted to the local court, detailed how the suspects created a fake Instagram account in the name of one of Goyal’s friends. They allegedly used this account to lure Agarwal to the fort under false pretences.

Background of the Victim and Suspects

Ketan Agarwal was engaged to Siya Goyal in February 2026, following a match proposed by their families. Agarwal, the son of Vishal Agarwal, was a graduate with a master’s degree from the United States and served as the chief marketing officer of his family’s real estate company, Success Group. The couple was set to have an extravagant wedding ceremony costing Rs 3 crore in November at a resort in Udaipur.

In late 2025, Goyal met Chaudhary, whose family originates from Rajasthan, at a local cricket tournament. Reports indicate that Chaudhary and Goyal developed a bond, which led to tension in her relationship with Agarwal. The suspects had numerous communications over several months, allegedly discussing plans to harm Agarwal. A Snapchat conversation from May 25 included Goyal discussing her wedding tickets, hinting at her uncertainty regarding the marriage.

Police officials noted that Goyal and Chaudhary made over two thousand phone calls during the investigation period, indicating a significant connection between them. The three witnesses reportedly came forward after the case received extensive media coverage, providing vital information regarding the events leading to Agarwal’s death.

Details of the Incident and Investigation Progress

The investigation illuminated a troubling plan by Goyal and Chaudhary, reportedly inspired by a previous murder case. They allegedly considered several locations, including Lonavala, before selecting Lohagad Fort as the site for the crime. Police found that they had researched previous accidents at these locations to identify the most secure methods for carrying out their intentions.

Evidence collected indicates that Goyal attempted to stage the incident by taking photographs during a preliminary visit to the fort with Agarwal on May 31. On June 18, the actual day of the murder, reports suggest that Goyal and Chaudhary executed their plan, where both were present at the scene. Goyal allegedly sat on the ground to signal Chaudhary, who then acted to push Agarwal into the gorge.

Subsequent investigations revealed further evidence, including CCTV footage showing Chaudhary’s activities around the time of the incident. Police records show that he attempted to create an alibi by turning off his phone data and swapping devices with a worker to avoid detection. Additionally, both suspects allegedly sought the assistance of a contract killer, attempting to approach an accomplice who later advised against the plan.
