Pune Police File Chargesheet in Ketan Agarwal Murder Case; Chargesheet Details Out

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Pune Police have submitted a 5,053-page chargesheet in connection with the murder of Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly pushed off a cliff by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her purported husband Chetan Chaudhary at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The chargesheet outlines the circumstances surrounding the attack, noting that Siya instigated the incident by pushing Ketan, after which Chetan reportedly kicked him off the cliff, resulting in his fall into a ravine.

Policemen have stated that the documentation includes witness testimonies, digital evidence, mobile communication records, photographs, and CCTV footage. Filed on September 19 before the Vadgaon Maval Sessions Court, the chargesheet elaborates on the purported criminal conspiracy, detailing the planning and execution of the alleged murder. The court will assess the content of the chargesheet to determine which specific offences will be formally established against the accused parties.

According to the police, Siya’s relationship with Chetan reportedly began before Diwali in 2025, when she met him through her brother. Despite familial opposition to their relationship, Siya and Chetan allegedly married in a clandestine ceremony at the Khatu Shyam Temple during a trip to Rajasthan in December. This marriage was known only to the involved parties, including their friend Ritesh Hange. Afterward, investigators uncovered deleted messages and images that showcased the couple exchanging vows, suggesting the union was clandestine in nature.

Allegations Surrounding the Murder Plot

The chargesheet indicates that after their marriage, Siya became engaged to Ketan in February 2026, following agreement between both families. However, police assert that she continued her relationship with Chetan and was resistant to the impending marriage with Ketan. The urgency of their situation reportedly escalated when Ketan and Siya’s wedding was scheduled for November, prompting discussions among the trio on how to eliminate Ketan.

Allegedly, Siya, Chetan, and Ritesh initially contemplated hiring a third party to carry out the murder but dismissed the idea due to potential risks of blackmail or exposure. They reportedly examined case studies of previous murders, including the notorious case of Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya, before settling on the concept of pushing Ketan from a height to make his death appear accidental.

Lohagad Fort was identified as a suitable location after the group noted a previous fatality that occurred there in March 2025. The investigation has unveiled that the first attempt to execute the plan occurred on June 14, when Siya reportedly tried to push Ketan from the chosen site but was thwarted by a tree that obstructed his fall.

The June 18 Incident and Developments

According to investigators, a second attempt was orchestrated on June 18, wherein Siya allegedly created a fake Instagram account using another individual’s photograph to lure Ketan back to Lohagad under the pretense of a surprise birthday celebration. Police efforts later successfully retrieved the deleted account for forensic analysis.

On the day of the incident, Siya purportedly led Ketan to the preselected site while Chetan followed discreetly, camouflaged in a hoodie. Reports claim that once at the cliff’s edge, Siya distracted Ketan before signalling to Chetan. Allegedly, she pushed Ketan first, which was followed by Chetan kicking him off the cliff. Ritesh, initially in on the plan, is reported to have opted out due to concerns about potential arrest.

With the chargesheet now filed within the stipulated timeframe, the case is advancing to the next legal stage, where the court will evaluate the presented evidence and frame charges prior to the commencement of the trial. Siya, Chetan, and Ritesh are currently being held in Yerwada Jail. Additionally, Ketan’s family has requested the appointment of senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam for the prosecution, which is being considered by the Maharashtra Chief Minister.
