Three Murders on One Night Disturb Bengaluru

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bengaluru experienced a series of violent incidents on the night of June 28, 2026, leading to the death of three individuals. The first incident occurred in Mahalakshmi Layout, where a 23-year-old woman named Anjali was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, Rajeev, following a dispute regarding their marriage. According to police reports, the couple had been in a relationship for over three years, but Anjali’s family had objected to the union due to Rajeev’s criminal history.

Authorities apprehended Rajeev shortly after the event. He is currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the argument that led to the tragic outcome. The police have expressed concerns about the increasing number of relationship-related crimes in the city.

Murder of a North Indian Woman in a Separate Incident

In another case in the Bommanahalli area, a 40-year-old woman named Krishna Barman, who hailed from North India, was found deceased in her rented residence located in Muniyappa Layout. Initial investigations indicated that she was likely strangled by someone familiar to her, although details regarding the identity of the assailant remain scarce at this stage.

Police are exploring several leads to establish a motive for the murder. They have indicated that background checks and information retrieval from neighbours may provide essential insights into her personal life and any potential threats she might have faced. The case has raised alarm among local residents, many of whom are anxious about safety in the area.

Authorities are committed to thoroughly investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case. They are also examining local CCTV footage to gain further understanding of the events leading up to the crime.

Third Incident Involving a History-Sheeter

The third violent act reported on the same evening involved a known criminal, Raja, also referred to as Halmuk Raja. He was brutally attacked by unknown assailants while traveling on JP Nagar Road, close to IG Circle. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a yellow-board vehicle from which the attackers emerged, pursuing Raja before attacking him with machetes.

The assault, captured on CCTV, showed Raja being relentlessly attacked even after he fell to the ground. Despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His death marked a shocking escalation in the city’s crime rate and has left residents unsettled.

Raja had a substantial criminal background, with numerous cases filed against him, including murder and robbery. Preliminary investigations suggest that his killing may be connected to a longstanding feud stemming from a murder case involving another rowdy sheeter known as Kutti, dating back nearly a decade, in which Raja was implicated.

Police have initiated thorough investigations into all three incidents and are reviewing evidence such as witness statements and surveillance footage. The alarming sequence of murders has prompted discussions at various levels within the community regarding safety and preventative measures.
