Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University Waives Winter 2026 Exam Fees for Drought-Affected Students

The CSR Journal Magazine

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, located in Nanded, Maharashtra, has officially declared a waiver of examination fees for the winter 2026 semester. This initiative aims to assist students residing in areas affected by drought. The announcement was made via a release from the university on Tuesday, detailing that the fee waiver will apply specifically to exams scheduled for November and December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Students

The waiver is intended for regular students enrolled in various academic programmes, including undergraduate, diploma, postgraduate, professional, and non-professional courses at both affiliated colleges and the university’s campuses and sub-centres. To qualify for this financial relief, students must adhere to specific conditions set forth by university officials.

To avail themselves of the fee waiver, students must provide documentation proving their residency in a drought-affected taluka. This includes a certificate verifying that their family’s annual income does not exceed Rs 8 lakh. Additionally, students are required to confirm that they have not previously received reimbursement for examination fees through any other government educational concessions.

According to the university’s release, 265 out of the total 358 talukas in Maharashtra have been officially classified as drought-affected. The decision to implement this fee waiver arose following an online meeting held on October 1, which was chaired by the state minister for higher and technical education. During this meeting, the current drought situation was reviewed, leading to instructions for the waiver of examination fees for eligible students residing in these impacted areas.

Verification Process for Fee Waiver

Students interested in obtaining the fee waiver will need to submit the necessary documentation to their respective colleges. The submitted documents will then be scrutinised and verified at the college level, ensuring that only those who meet the eligibility criteria will benefit from the waiver. This process is essential to maintain transparency and integrity in the distribution of the waiver.

Furthermore, students will be required to submit an undertaking as part of the application process for the fee waiver. The university’s Board of Examinations and Evaluation has clarified that eligible students should get in touch with their colleges for guidance on the required documents to facilitate the process.

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to supporting its students during difficult times, particularly those from regions severely impacted by drought. Through this fee waiver, the university aims to alleviate some financial burden and allow students to focus on their academic pursuits without the added stress of examination fees.
