Spring Weather Patterns Forecast to Re-emerge Across India

The CSR Journal Magazine

Beginning on Sunday, March 15, northern India is anticipated to experience a significant shift in weather patterns due to a series of western disturbances. This change, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and various meteorological experts, signals a return to spring-like conditions, with temperatures likely dropping below normal for the remainder of March and into April. The alteration in weather is expected to bring much-needed relief from the increasing temperatures seen in recent weeks.

Expert Insights on Upcoming Weather Conditions

Devendra Tripathi, the founder of Mausam Tak and a well-known weather vlogger associated with Kisan Tak, has pointed to the imminent change in climatic conditions. On this Sunday, rain and possible snowfall are anticipated in the mountainous regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. As the weather patterns evolve, these activities are expected to impact the plains, affecting states such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and various districts in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Weather Warnings Issued for Affected Areas

The IMD has released alerts regarding isolated thunderstorms, along with warnings for lightning and gusty winds. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in the western Himalayan region and adjacent plains on March 15 and 16. Independent weather expert Navdeep Dahiya indicated that the discontinuity in atmospheric winds may lead to pre-monsoon rainfall in southern and eastern parts of India. This pattern of precipitation indicates that a severe heatwave could be avoided until at least April 15 to 20.

Regional Effects of Rainfall

As northern India braces for incoming showers, Devendra Tripathi noted that the moisture from the Bay of Bengal is likely to result in overcast skies and light rain in the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. In eastern India, states including Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal are expected to receive rainfall, while the northeastern regions such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya could experience heavy downpours. Additionally, a slight decrease in temperature has been observed, offering some respite from the heat in areas like Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Concerns for Agricultural Sector

Despite the anticipated relief from high temperatures, Devendra Tripathi has raised concerns regarding the agricultural sector. The pre-monsoon rain, combined with the likelihood of hailstorms and strong winds, poses a risk to standing crops. As farmers prepare for these changes, the potential impacts on their livelihoods are significant. The IMD has indicated that another western disturbance is expected around March 18, which will further enhance the cooling effects across India.
